Traveling with Digital Cameras

For those who have done international travel often, I've got a question about digital cameras. I'm bringing 2 digital cameras (one w/ Memory Stick Pro DUO & one w/ Compact Flash) and disposable film cameras. (Yeah, I'm kind've a photo nut!)

I haven't decided on bringing my laptop so essentially, if I don't bring it, I won't have a place to transfer & store my photos until I get back home.

Think traveling with just the memory cards should be fine? My plan was just to shoot a bunch of pictures, lock the cards and store them away in my luggage on the way back home.

Any worries about the files corrupting when passing through airport security and being subjected to xray inspections? I'd be devastated if all my pics disappeared before I got home!

You can always hand the camera(s) to the TSA inspector at the airport. Some of the photoshops on the ships will upload your photos to a CD for a charge. I would not put my camera in checked luggage That is one of the few "must haves" that go in my carry on.

You're fine. I carry a pretty expensive Sanyo in my handbag 24/7 - takes video and photos and fits into an evening bag. Carried it through at least 50 TSA points in the last few years. Never a problem with damage or memory cards. I wouldn't lug along laptop....just bring a few sticks. I mean, REALLY, how much memory do you need?

I have a 10MG hard drive in my Sanyo Xacti which covers me for at least two weeks of memories.

Put you sticks and CF in your carry on bag. Do Not put them in your luggage that you check.
