I am trying to decide between Carnival's Legend or Dream. Legend is out of Tampa but doesnt include Costa Maya, which I loved 4 years ago. Tampa is most convient because that is where we live. Dream has all the same stops except swapping Grand Cayman for CM.

opinions on the two ships? maybe that can help me decide.

thanks in advance!

the ship really doesn't matter, go with your desire. what is more important to you, convenience or destination..............

Costa Maya was a very unpleasant stop - We went there - not by choice - on Legend two years ago. Try something new...You may love Roatan. CM of old is gone - I wont go back by my choice.

If you take me serious, it's your problem
I just got back from sailing the Legend... same itinerary as the Dream. If it were me i think i would choose sailing the Dream versus sailing the Legend. The dream is a new ship, and the Legend isn't... the Legend has seen better days, and in my opinion, needs to be refurbished. If you choose going to Roatan, versus Costa Maya i think you'll love it, aside from the cruiseline's private beach... the island is beautiful. I rented an SUV and drove the island, the views were priceless. There is a point where the highway follows the beach and you drive as close as 15 feet from the water... the waters are several vibrant shades of blue and crystal clear. i do the same thing in belize and cozumel... i just rent a vehicle and drive the countryside on my own.. better than any excursion you can buy if you ask me...

If it's itinerary you're deciding on, then I'd go with the Legend. I'd prefer Grand Cayman over Costa Maya, even if CG is a tender port. The rest of the itinerary is the same, so I guess you should also look at the amount of time spent in the remaining ports and which one is more condusive to your plans (e.g., prefer early arrival/departure or late).

I am not sailing the Legend in April, but I was on the Dream in June and LOVED it. I'm actually a little apprehensive about the Legend now, because it doesn't have the seaside theater, mongolian wok, burrito bar, or smoke-free spa cabins. Still, the price was much cheaper for the Legend than the Dream, and the Legend will seem less crowded since it is smaller.

Also, many people prefer the layout of the Spirit class ships.

Prioritize what matters most to you, and then decide. Here are my votes for the various factors:

Price - Legend
Itinerary - Legend
Ship ammenities - Dream
Embarkation Port - Dream (Port Canaveral is my fave and closer to me)
Layout - Dream (for me, but most would choose Legend)

It's your call, but I think you'll have a great time no matter which ship you choose!
