We are a very big group that is travelling to the western carrib... I was wondering if anyone can give some tips on where to go but on a very small budget..We don't want to spend too much in each port since we are such a big group...We don't want to get in on any excursions...Just prefer to tour on our own since excursions are very costly...

the 4 ports are conzumel,Labadee, Grand cayman and Ocho Rios....

I think we will go to Chankanaab Park in Conzumel....What have no idea about anywhere else...Plz help!

Hmmmmm, let's see....

That is a great choice in Cozumel.

As for Grand Cayman, if you want to snorkel, you can simply walk to the right, along the shore, after you get off the tender and there is a small little beach area that rent's snorkeling equipment, and we have actually seen quite nice sea life there. Other than that, we just like walking around the shopping area and back a few streets.

Labadee....just park yourself on a nice stretch of beach and enjoy the sun.

Ocho Rios....you may want to just enjoy the ship, here. I can't think of anything inexpensive here, so maybe others can help.

I am sure you will be able to find plenty to do on a smaller budget. Have fun!

Grand Cayman on the cheap - best bet is to get a taxi and go to Seven Mile Beach. If you go to one of the hotels, they'll let you have a chair, use their portion of the beach (which may be less populated) and maybe shower for a nominal fee.

Also, if you can swing $25.00 per person, I highly recommend the Stingray City/Coral Gardens tour offered by Nativway sports. You do not have to pay up front if you reserve online.

I have heard that Ocho Rios can be a pretty intimidating on your own....I know you said you don't want to do shore excursions, but a gentleman named Peat Taylor does a great one....so I hear. I've heard wonderful things about him and I plan to book with him for my cruise in September. The tour is $30 but is pretty inclusive.....you can find him at http://www.geocities.com/peattaylor.

Good luck!

In Ocho Rios, Dunns River Falls would be great fun to climb. Find out if you can do this inexpensively. The cost to go up the falls was very reasonable when we were there, but I don't know if it is safe to get there on your own.

We did this same trip last Sept.

I agree - use Pete Taylor in Ochos Rios. He is VERY reasonable and very well connected, so I know that he could accomodate your large group (I think the van we took sat 20 or so - is your group bigger than that?) It was very reasonable and what we paid included admission to Dunn's River Falls. I think for your own peace of mind, you would not want to do Ochos Rios without someone that "knows" Ochos Rios well.

We just walked around Grand Caymen. Took a cab to 7 mile beach and snorkelled there (we had our own snorkel equipment).

We rented a car from Alamo in Cozumel and drove to Chaakanaab Beach. We found this cheaper (split between 2 couples) than using shore excursions. One thing to be aware of - the cars that you rent when you get off the pier are not American standard rental cars. Just be prepared Chaakanaab is really nice, but it is $10 to get in. There are beaches you could go to for free, but Ch. Beach has showers and places to eat and nature trails. You could easily spend the whole day there. They even have a dolphin show, but that costs extra. We just snorkelled.
