My husband was wondering about renting a tuxedo on Century. Has anyone done this as well and what was the process? (And how much?) THANKS!

I think you would be better off renting it from a place near home most of the chain rental shops have a cruise deal , good price and more of a choice then on board .

Here's my pat answer:

If you ever intend to cruise again, you would be better off buying a tux rather than renting one. If there is not a good place to get off-price clothing in your town, try EBay.

The cost of buying aproximates the cost of renting twice.

Hi:
You've gotten some good advice, but your question hasn't been answered. There is a company I believe named cruiseline formal (info is available at celebrity). this outside vendor provides formalwear to all of the cruise line passengers. You contract directly with them & pickup your tux onboard. I may be out of date, but I think the cost is around $85 for a basic tux for a 1 week cruise. Have a great trip.

You should be able to rent the tuxedo and it will be delivered to your cabin and picked up in your cabin during the cruise. I believe the rental information is available on the Celebrity website. The rent/buy breakeven point is two or three cruises. I bought, but there is a lot to be said for not having to packing the tuxedo, shirts, shoes, cumberbun, etc. It sure adds a lot to the luggage. Since a tuxedo is common dress on the ship, they should have a lot of them on boad in case something gets messed up with your reservation.

Sorry, I didn't answer the main question.
I think the rental price is about $100 to $120 for the week. Your local tuxedo rental shops will probably match the on-ship rental price and throw in both a black tuxedo jacket and a white dinner jacket.. I have not seen many passengers wearing a white dinner jacket. If I were going to rent, I would go with the shipboard rental.

Well, I checked around my area for renting a tux and BOY what a rip off. Most places would only rent for the max of four days and it was in increments of 2 days for $100.00. ((Don't think so.)) I also considered purchasing a tux for my husband, but it's so close to the wire that I didn't want to be without one. In this case, I have reserved a tux through www.cruiselineformal.com. The basic black, 2 shirts and shoes came to $97.00 ($85 for the tux and $12 for the shoes.) Not too bad and a small price to pay for procrastination.

Although it may not seem like we are excited about this cruise because of the lack of planning on our part, time just seems to creep up on you sometimes.

Thanks to all for your advice. HAPPY SAILING!

From past experience:

Either buy a tux (if you plan to do three cruises or more in your life time)

or

Rent via the Ship's designated tux rental agent for about $125 for a 7 to 10 day cruise.

But, dont keep renting for $125 too many times when you can purchase a nice tux for $325. Dont get a cheap one for $179, go for a name brand with 2 or 3 shirts and the tie and the cuff links and the pins, etc for around $325.

My 14 cents worth
