its not expsensive either, it is 85.00 for the tux, basic black, and 12.00 for the shoes, i was just on the grand in dec

You can buy a tuxedo for this price, seriously. My husband bought one on a business trip and paid $99 for it, as did several of his colleagues. It is not shabby either, it is quite nice looking.

This is the co. that rents tuxes to the majority of cruise lines:

They have a link to a measurements page that you can print out and take to your local tux shop for accurate measurements. Then, you order online and the tuxes are brought to your cabin on the ship. Make sure you try them on when you get it in case you need a different size or alterations. The cabin steward will handle it for you.

I am renting from the above mentioned company for the second time. Now I know I could have purchased one for the price of 2 rentals, but how often do i wer one? Only when I cruise, how long do I plan to stay the same size is the bigger question. I never have to have it altered if I gain or lose weight, I can rent a white dinner jacket for caribbean trips and it is one less suit and 2 less shirts I have to pack and carry.

Just this morning I got my husband a tux from the above site. Also rented from them last year. It worked out great. One less thing to pack too.

You can definitely buy a tux for far less than $100. Some people are hesitant to buy clothes on ebay, but it is not hard - particularly when it comes to a tux or other suit where you know your size.
So what if the tux is used. When you rent a tux you are wearing a used item.
I got one on ebay and it looks great. It was dirt cheap too – including shipping it was under $30. With formal shirt, black tie, and shoes I am still under a hundred. If the tux came and I didn't like it, I would have just thrown it out.
You can buy ex-rentals on ebay, but I was patient and found a (semi)brand name (Saks). I really doubt I would look this good if I rented.
