Peter, this question comes up on CC all the time. Seems like about 40 to 60% of the guys do. We are doing the Constellation in November and both hubby and son in law will be wearing tux. It is sorta a pain to take them along, but you guys look so cool when you get dressed up. Give us gals the chance to see you in something other than shorts or Khakis.

Tuxedos are part of the Celebrity experience. Not everyone wears them but you will certainly not be out of place if you do. If you enjoy custom and tradition you will be happy you wore a tux. You can buy one online for the price of a rental. You can also wear a dinner jacket (white/off white). I get a great thrill out of being able to participate in a custom that started in the 1800s. Dressing for dinner onboard ship goes way back to the mid 1800s. It is also a show of respect for the all the people who are knocking themselves out to make sure that you are having the time of your life. i do believe the waiters and staff appreciate the effort made on your part.

Love the idea of buying on line. DH just did this, after several cruises renting from the line. I will admit the tux itself is quite lacking in quality, but who cares. Is anyone going to approach him and touch his tux or say: oh my, you have a cheap one. To make a long story short he got everything except the shoes, and I mean everything for less than $100 on line. This includes shipping and he is like a kid in a candy store. !!!!!!!!!!!
