Did anyone watch this over the New Year's holiday? I look forward every year to the 48 hr. marathon on the SciFi channel. It started at 7:00 a.m. on Dec. 31st (Monday), and ended this morning at 5:00 a.m. I was sick from Sunday until late yesterday and was in bed most of the time......let's put it like this....I was either in bed or in the bathroom! Anyway, I saw more of the marathon this year than I normally do! I just love this old show.

I always wonder how little Gunther is doing. I bet he looks adorable sitting in your lap. One of these days, you must post a pic! Happy New Year to you and yours.

I hope to someday own the complete 5-season collection of episodes. I did record 2 DVD's worth (6 hrs. on each DVD), but would love to have the "official collection" with ALL episodes and NO commercials! :lol

Gee......it's "only" $210.00. If I wasn't saving for my cruise in March, I'd bite the bullet and order the set. However, it seems I'm always saving for a cruise! :lol

I hate to fly, it scares the heck out of me. One time we went to Las Vegas, and it was monsoon season there, so the plane had to wait in LA for clearance and then fly around the storm and come into Vegas from the back.

I was crying, it was scary for me, and my 10 yr old daughter was sitting next to me in a window seat. She looked at me and said, "Mommy... there's something... on... the wing!"

I was laughing so hard I forgot to cry! Bless her, she helped me through the flight!

:)D GloBug. I would have probably died of a heart attack! I too hate to fly.....in fact, I no longer do it...period. No exceptions. I only cruise out of ports I can drive to, which basically leaves Port of Galveston Port of Houston. But that's OK with me.

r8derfan and GloBug....what is your favorite episode? I have several that I really enjoy and look for everytime they have the marathon. But my top favorite is the one where the dying father makes his good-for-nothing daugher, son-in-law and grandkids wear these ugly masks for Mardi Gras. They have to keep them on until midnight or they will inherit not one cent of his fortune. The old man dies at the strike of midnight, and when they take off their masks, their faces have changed to look like the masks. My other favorites would have to be any of the ones involving the astronauts (there are several different ones).

I think mine is Mr.Beamis (sp?) He has this hateful wife. He is a huge bookworm and He LOVES to read. Always reading. He had to wear very thick glasses to see. On one of his lunchbreaks he goes into the Bank vault and leaves the door ajar so he can read his book in quiet. An atomic bomb goes off and he is the only man left on earth. Soon he stumbles upon the ruins of a library. He is so happy. He stacks all the books up in months and years of reading. He bends over and I think it was an aftershock or something and his glasses fall off and break. He says "Its Not Fair, Its not fair".

I remember that episode well r8derfan. I always think it's sad that after all the abuse he put with, that he can't even enjoy himself after the world destruction.

You know, DH was watching some last month, and I saw one I had forgotten about. It's called THE INVADERS. When a woman (Agnes Moorehead) investigates a clamor on the roof of her rural house, she discovers a small UFO and little aliens emerging from it. It's from 1961, so I must have been 8 when I first saw it. It's stayed in my mind since.

(From IMDb)

# This is the only episode with only one person and no spoken dialog at all; this is primarily performed in pantomime, as demonstrated by Agnes Moorehead.

# The small ship is one of the miniatures of the saucer shaped United Planets Cruiser, used in the MGM film Forbidden Planet.

# In this episode, as in many episodes, they recycled props from "Forbidden Planet". Most noticeable here and elsewhere are the ship, Robby the robot, handguns and gauges from the Krell laboratory.

Another cool episode is this one: (I'm borrowing the description from a website since their description is sooo much better than my own would be). What makes this episode so cool, is that I would not know that was Robert Duvall playing the lead role if not for the credits!

Robert Duvall stars as Charley Parkes, a shy and lonely man who spends his spare time at the museum, even though his domineering mother (Pert Kelton) would prefer that Charley seek out a suitable girlfriend. But as far Charley is concerned, he already has a sweetheart -- a tiny but lifelike ballerina doll, part of a 19th century dollhouse exhibit. While "conversing" with the doll one day, Charley is startled as the ballerina comes to life -- as do several less appealing miniature characters.

I also watched the marathon yesterday. DH and I spent the entire day home, and enjoyed seeing these episodes. The only one I will NOT watch is the one with Talking Tina... it still scares me.

NiteStar, I also like the Mask episode. My favorite, though, is the Hitch-hiker. ::eek: I also enjoy almost any one that involves time travel.

Oh I think my very favorite is this one where this old woman keeps getting calls where the person dosn't say anything. She keeps saying "Who are you, Why are you calling me?" And she says "Stop Calling me." If I remember right he said Ok I won't call you anymore and said her name. Then she follows the telephone lines to a grave yard and the line from the pole is dangling down to her husbands grave. She then wanted to talk to him, but he always did what she said so he didn't call her anymore. That was my favorite.

My favorite was the Cook Book episode, and I can't believe those shows use to scare the @#$%& out of me.

J.E.M......is that the one where the aliens come to earth offering a utopia for humans on their planet and it's all a ploy to get the human race to come with them. And then one of the scientists decifers the code for the book and finds out it a book on how to cook humans.

That's it. The episode title, which is also the title of the book shown, is "To Serve Man." Creepy.
