OMG!!!! Really.. $549!!!! YIKES that can be a price of a cruise. Guess I'm not rich enough to consider that but I think they look like eyesores on what was a pretty white sand beach and palm trees. What was once a private island is beginning to look like a real estate sale in cottage country. JMO!

I truely believe that they are being built for the Carnival passengers.

They always get to rent the regular cabanas for less money than HAL people.

I agree with seamom. No matter whom they're being built for, they are eyesores.

l could see trying it once if you were taveling with 3 other couples, I like just staying on ship most of the time when visiting HMC or the other private islands.

Now that I have to use a walker/rollator, I find it hard to get around HMC -- the paths are not very wide.

I think that is something they could have concentrated on that would affect the most people, Krazy... a nice walkway for mobility challenged, leading to a lower scale observation platform, shaded amidst palms so you could feel part of the ocean breeze and swaying trees and be mobile. Not these ugly little hotels plunked randomly spoiling the beach. But..guess it all comes down to the dollars coming in to support us more frugal travellers and if I was one of those larger private parties in the cabanas, I'm sure I'd be having fun and forget my grumbling.. HA!

I guess I'm the odd woman out on this one.

Along with everything that KK listed, you also get, "misting shower, and private sun deck.

You will be provided with fresh fruit, vegetables with dip, and chips and salsa to snack on as well as an assortment of soft drinks and bottled water to quench your thirst. Beach towels, floating mats, and snorkel gear are also included for your use throughout the day. "

If there are 8 people, that works out to $68.75 per person. I honestly don't think that's a bad deal, especially when you get the snacks, soft drinks and bottled water.

I, for one, would thoroughly enjoy the upgraded cabanas if there were 8 people. I agree that it's steep less than that.

And, KK, I also think there should be some sort of accommodations made for passengers with mobility issues.

Those items - snacks, sodas, etc., and misting shower, etc. have been provided in the 4 people cabanas.

I ceriously doubt if we will even go ashore in HMC anymore.

Also the last 2 - 3 years of storms have done damage to the beach. Money should be used to build up the sandy areas.
