First of all, my best wishes for your father's speedy recovery. I agree with the
respondents so far. Several years ago, we were victims of a crime and could
not leave the area for our Carnival cruise due to the ongoing investigation at the
time. I wrote to Carnival and my TA also advocated for me to either cancel with a
at least a partial refund or reschedule the cruise. At that point we were just mere
weeks from the cruise. We were overconfident in that we did not take out insurance
because we had taken many cruises and vacations without a mishap-- what could
happen? Famous last words!
Anyway, Carnival responded back with a lovely letter wishing us well and a refund!
I have never forgotten that kindness at such a trying time and we learned our
lessons-- take out insurance. I strongly urge you and your TA work together and
follow the suggestions offerred by the previous respondents. You have nothing
to lose and everything to gain. Like Carnival, most cruise lines will consider each
situation on a case by case basis, because they want you back as their customers!
So try, you just may get lucky!
Again, my wishes for a speedy recovery for your father!
