United not flying into Fort Lauderdale

Hi all,
United Airlines is no longer flying into Fort Lauderdale? Our Fort Lauderdale flights were canceled and we've been redirected to Miami.
I have two questions:
1) What's the cheapest way to get from Miami to Fort Lauderdale? Super Shuttle, Taxi, Water Taxi, bus etc...
2) Any suggestions on a hotel that's clean and affordable in Miami?

We'll be sailing on the Crown Princess on October 26th.

Actually if U have the time it might be best to rent a car one way as drop charges are minimal and some still do NOT charge for drop off in the state of Fl. :thumb Otherwise the next BEST option would be the Super Shuttle. Good Luck!!!

That is DEFINITELY the most common question on all the boards.....it's been answered in great detail and with many different options and opinions. Try doing a search. Common replies are get a shuttle from your hotel, rent a car, take a cab. It's about a 45 drive from Miami airport.

BTW - all my FLL flights are cancelled now too....have to take several connections to get into FLL now...it's only going to get worse as they continue to cancel flights

It's like a HUGE Van with luggage racks/ luggage areas.. very convenient..and you have to contact them and pre-book it ahead, and also at times pre-pay..

see http://supershuttle.com and it's at 22 airports in the USA.. Good luck...:)..Joanne

Most major airports have shuttles. In Philadelphia, it's called Rapid Rover. They seat around 10-15 people, and they run around the airport radius (usually no more than 50 miles outside)...pick people up to GO to the airport and then drop people off coming in from the airport. As mentioned above, you should make reservations if you need a ride TO the airport, and in the really big airports, they just have a "call phone" at baggage claim and one of their many shuttle vans will come get you.

That's a very helpful link guys...THANKS. As I said, now my usual flights into FLL are all being rerouted or cancelled, so I have have to do the Miami dance as well. I bookmarked the shuttle link. Looks like they operate the same as up here, just get your bags and hail a shuttle.

I just wanted to follow up on what I found with my research... the cheapest and best bet between Miami and Fort Lauderdale:
Taxi: $100.00 or more...
Princess Transfer: $50.00 round trip per person from Miami Airport to the port.
Super Shuttle: $68.00 one way per person
Rental car: $35.00 plus a $25.00 one way drop off fee
So... if anyone else is having this delima, call Princess and book the transfers. We found it to be the best deal.

I'll take the shuttle....I really hate waiting for the cruise transfers. They take forever, as you have to wait until there are enough passengers to fill the bus. For $18 more, I'd rate grab my bags and GO!! But actually, I have a lot of friends in South Florida, so someone will probably pick me up.

GOOD INFO THOUGH - THANKS

Wondering why United didn't give you American Air Lines to Ft. Lauderdale? I am going there in December on United and I end up on American into Ft. Lauderdale. I fly with United a lot and they try to keep you on thier planes but if you tell your travel agent you need to get on a ship in Ft. Lauderdale, not in Miami and you originally booked to Ft. Lauderdale they will get you there; They just did this for me through Orbitz, although they did have to speak to a Supervisor at United to get permission. Hope this helps.
