Hello Cruise Addicts...
This is Cricket's husband. Cricket asked me to give you an update on her progress after her left knee replacement.
This was a partial knee replacement. She had the operation on Wednesday, and the doctor said everything went well. She opted for a spinal instead of general anesthesia, which in the past has been very difficult for her when she would wake up.
That night, she did very well, because the spinal was still working. But Thursday, after they gave her IV pain medication, she began to get sick. That afternoon and all through the night, she had much nausea and kept throwing up. The anti-nausea medicine was not very effective. Things were a little better on Thursday. At her request, they switched her to an oral pain killer, Tylenol with codeine, and she handled that much better. But the pain killer was not very effective, so she was in much pain throughout the day and Thursday night, particularly when she was in therapy, and when she had a machine connected to her leg, which continually bent and straightened her leg. Whenever I asked her, she described the pain as a "10" on a scale of 1 to 10. She was supposed to be released on Friday, but they felt she should stay another day, because of these problems. Hopefully, I will be able to take her home later today (Saturday).
In 4 weeks, she is scheduled to have the other knee done. Not a pleasant thing to look forward to.
Cricket asked me to say hello to all of you, and that she will hopefully be back on the board before long. Please keep her in your prayers. Thanks.
