Upgrade Possibilities

My wife daughter and I are booked on the Dawn Princess March 20 for 10 day southern Carribean. This is our second Princess cruise, booked an inside stateroom (Aloha deck I think). Considering we are members of the Captains Circle and it is our 25th wedding anniversary during the cruise what do think our chances are of being upgraded and when do you usually find out?

Pretty good as you are booked way ahead..you also need to call Princess at 1-800-Princess and make sure you are tagged for yes on "upgrade availability.."also make sure Princes knows this is a 25th Anniversary sailing..it can and does help!!..;).. and that you would Like to have a chance at an upgrade..just remember that you'd want to have a chance of keeping what you have as the ships sell out and people are moved by category and not by floor per se..as in one color bump up the chart on rooms.and make sure you know if the upgraded room is one you want to ACCEPT!!....Call your Travel agent and check on how much the ship is SOLD out..that also would reflect say in end of December if the whole ship is sold..final payment due frees up rooms when people cancel sooo.that's prime time for the ship to change rooms as they try to sell out the ship..the most and least expensive cabins go first..so then they juggle the reservations to free up these rooms..therefore the "middle rooms get shuffled frquently to make these most requested rooms open.......Good luck.."nice to meet you"..:)..Joanne

A Busy cruise period so I would think your chances would be Good. If NOT then U will be happy with the Inside on the Aloha as we have had a couple insides on the Sun Class ships on that deck and VERY Pleased with them. In fact some of those cruising with US who had balcony cabins actually prefered the inside layout better than their balcony cabin layouts. :))) Enjoy!!!

As you have a cabin that is a triple and you have an assigned cabin, it might be a little more difficult for you to upgrade.....but it is possible. Good luck! (p.s. - those that book category guarantee cabins usually have a much better chance at an upgrade, but again if you need a triple, it is harder to do.)

With Princess, it really doesn't matter if you book a specific cabin or a guaranttee. They do a good job of upgrading both. If you have a triple, it sort of lessens your chances a little. Remember, most upgrades are from inside to another inside cabin or inside to obstructed view. An upgrade but not a great upgrade.

I cruised with Princess twice before and will be with them again in August. All these time, we requested an assigned cabin as we want to be in the mid ship.

For the past two cruises, we got exactly what we had reserved. Of course, we did not tell them that we could take upgrade. Like others said in this forum, you might be upgraded to a higher floor but a bad location.
