Hello All;

I am new to this forum but not new to crusing. This will be my fifth cruise. But the last time I took a cruise it was over 5 years ago.

On Dec 16 my family and I will be on the Princess Caribbean. There are 4 of us. I have booked an inside cabin. Now my wife tells me that she prefer an outside cabin. My question is any chances I can get a free upgrades from the cruise line? Has any body ever gotten a free upgrade? How is it done. Please let me know.

Thaks!

Call your TA and tell them that you are interested in an upgrade. It is possible, if cabins are available that you MIGHT get one. However, no guarantees it will be an outside or better.

JMO, paying for an outside cabin will be a heck of a lot cheaper than a divorce lawyer..........

It is the luck of the draw if the upgrade fairy will pay you a visit. If she does, buy a lottery ticket too. :)

Did you book an inside for all 4 of you?

I'm not sure about your prices but on our cruise the prices on an inside vs and outside were so minimal I would book what you want and not hope for an upgrade. Upgrade fairy is a very fickle gal, no telling when she will strike. You don't have to sail with her but you do with your wife! Make the wife happy!

I doubt it. If you want an outside cabin (with a window) or a balcony, then pay for it or, at the very least, change your booking to a Guarantee. Then, you'd at least have a little better luck for an upgrade.

Thanks everyone for the great advise. I guess I just have to shed out some $$$ for the upgrades. I don't think the upgrade fairy likes me very much.

How about internet. Does anyone know the prices for internet on the ship. Can I access the internet from my room?

Recently read these prices as the current plans available. (Thanks Toto) At least it will give you an idea.

$55.00 for 100 minutes
$75.00 for 150 minutes
$100.00 for 250 minutes
or .75 cents per minute if you just purchase "as you go"

You cannot access the internet from your cabin.

edited to add...your choice to upgrade to an outside cabin is an excellent one if an outside is what you want. Upgrades from inside to outside are very rare. Princess usually upgrades to a "better location" in the category in which you were booked. For example an inside cabin on a lower deck is likely to be "upgraded" to an inside cabin on a higher deck rather than to an outside cabin on a lower deck.
