Urgent Help - Carnival in general, Conquest specifically

I am a first time cruiser. My wife and I have talked about doing this for years, and the last time we tried we wound up bying a house and had to back out of the cruise. I am giving her a cruise for Christmas this year, and I had planned on using the Carnival Conquest.

Here is my problem. I just read a review by someone that said that there are no non-smoking rooms available and that the entire place reeked of cigarette smoke. My wife HATES smoking, and is extremely sensitive to the smell. If this review is true then she will never last the week, I'll be swimming home from Jamaica.

Does anyone have experience with carnival in general and really the Conquest specifically as to these issues? I appreciate any input greatly!!

i have been on 3 carnival cruises and not once have i had any problem with the smell of cigarette smoke in the state rooms. also if i am correct carnival does not allow smoking in the rooms and they have designated smoking areas on the deck of the boat for smokers. i dont know where the people in that review got their information from but they really need to pay close attention to the cruise director who will tell you over and over again to use the designated smoking areas on deck. am i saying that there has never been smoking in the staterooms? absolutely not, but for the most part most people are respectful enough to use the smoking areas and not once have i noticed a smell of smoke in the rooms aboard carnival cruise ships. I hope this helps. :D

My girlfriend Susan is also very sensitive to the smell of cigarette smoke. Of all the cruises we have been on she has only smelled the hint of smoke once. The cabin steward cleaned the cabin and it didn't bother her any more. I would say you'll be fine.
