Urgent question // stateroom choice

Hi Misa,

I'm not going to be much help here, as I have no idea what's in those areas either. Did you ask you're travel agent?

Ususally those lower deck inside rooms are very quiet areas, but that's usually because the only other things down there are other cabins. But there's no telling with that deck plan. Start by asking your travel agent, or call the cruise line directly.

When looking at a particular cabin location there are several factors to take into account. Certainly the potential for noise is one. The potential for ship motion another. The proximity to other areas of the ship also.

Noise could depend on those non-labeled areas. Aside from that factor, there is no point in paying more for a different inside cabin. The view from an inside cabin is pretty much the same no matter what deck you're on. :grin

With this cabin being low in the ship and centrally located, you are probably in the best place for avoiding ship motion. The roll is felt least in the lowest decks and the pitch is felt least in the center of the ship (between fore and aft).

I like being fairly close to the elevators, expecially if that elevator will open right near the windjammer cafe or the dining room. I especially hate walking the length of the ship, in my high heels when heading to dinner. This cabin is neither exceptionally close, nor exceptionally far from those places.

I'm going to take an educated guess here...

Usually, when the deck plans show "blank" area, it's because it's for non-public uses...

Normally, on decks with passenger cabins, it's the cabin stewards' prep area--the linen closets, supply storage, etc.

However, being on Deck two and with that hallway ending abruptly as it appears, my guess is that the remainder of Deck two--everything past the end of that hallway (probably a door marked "crew only" and that whole blank starboard side--that those are the Crew's Quarters...There are likely around a thousand crew members on board...the officers get cabins on higher decks, but the rest of the crew will usually take up all of deck 1 and part of deck 2...
