Using your own Laptop to hook into the internet on a Cruise

I have just purchased a new laptop and I will be sailing on the Celebrity Zenith over Christmas. My question is I have alway used there computers to do my internet research and E-Mail connection while on a numerous other cruises and have found it inordinately expensive. Is it any less expensive when you have your own computer and just use there connection ?
