Has anyone that purchased the Carnival Vacation Protection Plan had to use it. If so, did it provide what you needed, being medical or cancellation of cruise. Also, I would like to have the opinions of others whether they think this plan should be purchased. This will be our 6th cruise coming up in May and I have not bought the insurance in the past but considering it this time. Thanks for your feedback.

I always purchase the insurance and have only used it once in 18 cruises but I will purchase it every time anyway. Since most health plans don't cover you outside the US, that is reason enough for me if it didn't do anything else. My advice, buy the insurance for sure.

But don't just accept or settle for what the cruise line offers, they historically offer less bang for the buck than independents like Access America or Travelguard, etc. One good place to start that compares coverages and prices is http://www.insuremytrip.com/

That's right bOB. I was remiss in not to mention that. We usually purchase Berkley Care since it is the insurance my company offers

I have keystone blue a HMO of Blue cross and blue shield. I called them to check on my coverage outside of USA. They tell me I am covered for Emergency Care outside the US. So do you think I still the the extra insurance?

Replacing lost luggage and contents $500, Rebooking missed flight on alternate airline $400, Cost of lodging while waiting for new flight to port $200, Medivac airlift in case of serious emergency from ship $10,000, for everything else there's Mastercard......................

There are a lot of things that travel insurance covers beside emergency medical treatment, and if you young it is relatively cheap, consider it.
