Valor cabin Question

We are travelling on the Valor in Sept., and according to a Carnival PVP, we already have an assigned cabin -- Verandah deck (8), and very close to the front of the ship.

I am very sensitive to movement, even being bothered by the little movement we felt on Adventure of the Seas last summer.

Should I request a different cabin -- more toward midship or aft, or am I worrying for nothing?

Thanks!

Ships experience two kinds of movement. Pitch (up and down) and roll (side to side). The least amount of roll is felt the closer you are to the water line and the closer you are to the center line of the ship. Thus, least amount of pitch is mid ship. The most amount of pitch is front and aft. So, the cabins with the least amount of movement are the bottom most inside cabins.

However, seasickness is caused by a conflict between the eyes and the ears. So, if you are inside and can not see the horizon, your eyes do not detect movement. However, your ears will. So, it is better to be able to see the horizon. The reverse is also true. People (including me) have become seasick standing on solid ground. Why, because playing a video game the eyes see movement, but the ears do not.

I get seasick easy. I have never gotten seasick on a cruise ship yet (so far I have 39 days at sea - soon to be 46). I have become seasick on boats.

If you are concerned, it would be best if you moved closer to the middle of the ship (away from the bow or aft end of the ship).
