Valor or Victory

We are trying to plan a cruise on one of these ships for early Feb. We have been on a lot of Carnival ships, but never on either of these. I read the reviews and just can't decide....I don't want to "get lost" on the Valor, but that Yankee bar was put there for us. We are BIG Yankee fans, still in shock after last night's game =cry Itineraries are almost exactly the same and we have been to all the ports anyway at least once, so that is not a factor. I am leaning a little bit towards the Victory. We would book a balcony room. Can anyone give me any advice?

I can't figure out how to edit my message, so will add another post. We really cruise at this point for the SHIP more than anything else. We enjoy the pool during the day and at night we enjoy going to the bars and the casino. We rarely go to shows, so that is not a factor. We like "action" and to people watch and mingle.

I have not been on the either of these ships but I will be going on the Valor in April. We also looked at both of these ships before deciding on the Valor. We have been on the Glory, which is identical to the Valor, and really enjoyed it. We finally decided on the Valor because it is a new ship and slightly larger. It also has the Fish and Chips restaurant above the buffet area which is wonderful. It was our favorite place to have lunch. I know these aren't huge differences but we really wanted the newer, bigger ship. I'm sure either way you will have a wonderful time. Good luck choosing!

I was on the Victory in Feb. 2005 and we are booked to return on the Victory in March 2006. The Victory was our first Carnival cruise and we were very pleased. The staff was great, the ship was clean, and the shows, bars and casino were wonderful.
We had a balcony, cabin 1060 Panorama Deck. This was a good location, very close to the pools, buffet and gym. The pizza, cheeseburgers, The deli, chinese food, the frozen drinks, etc. all were mummy!!
I see you were on the Triumph, the Triumph is the sister ship of the Victory. Same layout, different colour.

We were on the Valor in May of this year and had a blast. The ship itself is not hard to get around. The nightlife was amazing, especially the piano bar, sports bar, and dance club. A friend that was on the ship had a balcony cabin and loved it. The theme is heros and heroics. The carnival websight now has a vertual tour that gives you an idea of what the ship looks like before you go. I also found deck plans that you can make to hook on a lanyard with your sail and sign card. I'll give you the one that I used.

Mine is set up by floor, from Forward to Aft. This worked so much better for us last cruise than the little card they give you in your stateroom. Hope this helps.

All you need to do is put the following in a Microsoft Word document. Format in: Normal 8 pt bold: Times New Roman: 8pt and divide into four equal columns. Trim excess paper and fold in half, and then laminate it. It will be about the size of a credit card. Hope you use it as much as we did when on the Valor.

Thanks Chrlygyl. What a great idea to carry around the deck plans. Okay, I have one vote in column A and one vote in Column B. I need a tie breaker! Or else I am going to have to go on both of them! =clap I don't care what anyone thinks; I have always loved Carnival. Runner, Triumph was one of our favorite ships....

the tie breaker is simple, Expedia has a fabulous Past Guest special for the 2/12/06 sailing on the VALOR. we got a balcony room on the Lido deck for $869!!! We could not pass it up so we are booked!! Also they have a $100 coupon book if you book before 10/24, check it out!!!

Does the $869 price include all taxes, port charges and fees? The company I use...Cruise411.com... is quoting that Valor sailing, balcony cabin on the Lido Deck, at $851.79 per person and that does include all the extra fees. It is indeed a past guest promotion so if you are looking at sailing early February that is a great price! Sometimes you even get special rates depending on the state you live in. You really should start checking out different travel companies to see where you can get the best price. Good luck!

Machllz...I just reread your post and noticed that you can get the $100 coupon book, that really is a great deal!! I didn't even think to ask my agent if they offer any thing like that. We are booked in April on the Valor but are thinking about going on an earlier sailing also. Have fun on your cruise!

No, the $869 did not include the port charges. The total was $900 with everything, but still not bad. AND you get the $100 coupon book (free 8X10 portraits, free wine etc.) Great deal I thought. Wish I could have done better on airfare but with gas prices you never know if they will shoot up so better to play it safe and book early I think!

I agree about the airfare....book when you can because you just don't know w/the gas prices the way they are. I booked airfare for our April cruise as soon as it became available...about 10 months prior to sailing. I keep checking to see if prices have changed, hoping I won't see it for lower or I'd be upset. But luckily that hasn't been the case. So far prices have gone up close to $100 per person!
