Veendam S suite

I've been reading this board and others for a few weeks now. We are booked on the Veendam Dec 13 in one of the "S" suites.
I'm even more confused now as to what to expect as far as special services and perks that go with this type of suite.
I had read where there is a special lounge for suite pax, but from what I can determine this is not available on the Veendam.
I've also heard that suite pax get priority boarding but also heard that this is not so.
Another one is in-suite dining. Can we dine in our suite instead of the dining room? I've read that you are delivered a menu from the dining room that you may order from if you wish to dine in suite in the evening. I know that there is room service available, but I think that this is a better menu. Am I correct?
We are looking forward to this cruise. Our first was on Carnival and we were not at all happy with it. We're looking for a more subdued and upscale cruise with less teens and children. We just want to relax and kick back. We thought that the suite would be perfect for that.
Would any of you veteran HAL cruisers be willing to help clear up what we can expect as far as suite perks and the type of pax we'll find on the Veendam?
Thanks. This board has been a great source of information, and with many friendly and knowledgeable folks.

This is a some what older list, if you need to make sure I would call my T/A or HAL Ship Services at 1-800-541-1576 and they should be able to tell you what you need to know. HAL would also know when the Neptune lounge and Alternate Restaurant are to be installed.

Ditto, Barry. He has it just right!

A call to HAL will tell you when Veendam has her next scheduled drydock. She will surely get a Pinnacle Grill at that time.....and PROBABLY, but not definitely so far as I can determine, a Neptune Lounge.

We have always gotten special embarkation privileges -- in the form of suites board before everyone else, right after the wheelchairs. Once we arrived after embarkation had begun and we received a card saying "treat as #1" and were told to go to the front of the line. So we did and got right on! You can also order dinner in your suite. The dining room dinner menu will be put in your cabin early afternoon each day. We've never done it, but I've heard of people ordering dinner in their suite off of the dining room menu. We cruise to relax and kick back - something that is extremely easy to do in an 'S' suite. Have a great time!
