Ok so in 5 years we have NEVER< NEVER <NEVER been able to redeem "free" air miles.. Domestic, international..I mean crossing the beeping STREET!!..=eek...

So tonight post trick or treaters after having Mark surfed Delta for 1/2 hour before even trying to process it..just getting the lay of the land..armed with info....so while I am preparing DS Stephen's Birthday dinner.. he is cross-referencing Vermont to Colorado...get this for NEXT SUMMER 2008...because if we don't do it now.. we will never get it..Yeah right..

and getting NOWHERE...on the computer FAST!! so at this point HELLO it's in ELEVEN months....they cannot possible not have seats.. oh but wait 6 ways to China every single time we get to close to finish, and try to redeem.. "I am so sorry the return flight is GONE". ... so me being raised in business for 40 years with my folks..Hmmm we shall call 1800- Delta... I actually get a pleasant young woman who speaks English she finds us 2 seats both ways.. it's all set.. we just need to send you to the final Department to process....

and WOULD you believe.. YUPPERS..to BOMBAY India....and it's all ^%$# up I mean FUBAR...all the flights, all the towns, all OF IT!! which if you have to know what that stands for.. you don't even want to know..=grrr....so 45 minutes later having struggled with Mark ON his computer to have the same flights, the same everything.. set for her to finish... and get it all set..and me with this new young lady who does NOT have the same command of the Queen's English... the phone connection is cut.............HOLEY MOLEY... now this is where Mark would have just given up.. not ME!!!!!!!!!,,

Nosiree bOB.. I am made of much nastier Italian genetics than him..:evil..I call Delta back toll free one more time and say..I want this flight, I want it set..I want it for this many miles..DO NOT TO DARE SEND ME TO INDIA>..and Lady ..if you have any heart and soul please by all that is Holy stay here in the USA for the balance of this call...and BY GUM ..I won.. and even got First class on the way home.. so as I sit here and type this..with my chest filling, and my throat sore from trying to yap politly to INDIA!!!!!it's done, and as I said to Mark..NOW I ^%$# deserve a glass of wine/Fresca..

Cheers y'all.. sigh and I have TWO roundtrip tickets to Denver for July 2008!!.. =lolgang.. :party on kids.....Joanne

For Delta's sake, I hope there are not too many changes in their schedule between now and then. I'm afraid you will go after them if they screw with it! :lol

I say that because for our flights in February (on Alaska Airlines) they have changed routes and times at least three times since we booked using miles. To their benefit, Alaska has been more than helpful and gracious in fixing problems they caused due to the changes. Some of the changes were on a partner airline and they still helped fix it.

OK now my turn to vent. I'm trying to get home for at least a weekend at Christmas. We are in blackout for the week before and Christmas week no vacation days. The fares for two weeks before are 300.00 round trip. The fare w/o tax for Christmas weekend are 800 and up....OMG how am I going to break this to Audra I can only travel on certain days because of work. arrrrggggggggg

I'm going to have to sell my soul to work for an extra day off or just go two weeks early. Dang...

This outsourcing thing is the pitts. Not only can we not understand these people but the jobs it is taking away from the good old U S of A. At first it was manufacturing jobs and now this.....before we know it the only jobs left for Americans will be fast food and WalMart :mad

Our work Help Desk is also outsourced and I can't tell you how many times we get the wrong information about our accounting system which unless you use it alot you could never understand it. I only call if I'm having computer issues and never call with software questions.

And the people that work on the help desk change their names to American ones. Well guess what, you still can't understand what they are saying it is very difficult. One day I called and they asked for my login name. So after I gave it the woman said oh hello Judy how are you today. I said have we spoken before, she said yes, we have spoken several times. I said well why do you keep changing your name? =lolgang

My boss who can be nasty anyway, screams at them when they try to give her bad information. It is kinda poetic justice on both sides in a way. :devil I wonder how much they are paid?

Is there any computer or ISP Help Desk not outsourced nowadays? I haven't found one in a long time. The last local help desk I spoke to was 6 years ago when I worked for American Greetings.

that's why I like my Discover Miles card. They refund you money depending on miles accrued. So, it's like $100 for every 10,000 miles -- can be used for any travel - cruise, air; and NO RESTRICTIONs. You buy the tix you want then call them to switch miles for credit on the card. I like it -- works for me.

I may look into that, Hucc. Is it any airline? AmEx is now limiting some of the airlines to which we can transfer points. I'd rather not get an airline-specific MasterCard or Visa.

I like it. We used them on Delta airline tickets we purchased -- no blackouts, no restrictions.
