She was our first and will always be my favorite. How's the old girl holding up? Pat

She's holding up well, Pat! We were on Triumph twice which I think is Victory's sister ship and loved both of them. The casino was not kind to my DH :sniper but otherwise had a great cruise. She's very easy to get around and learn the layout. Only "problem" we had was the dining room. We were in 2nd floor Atlantic at the very very last table which was a booth. If they had put us in a closet it would have been better. We didn't see anyone or anything. We have always been lucky on all our trips and been front and center in the dining room and this was a real shocker. I should have taken the advice I read ages ago about looking up your table as soon as you get on the ship and changing if it doesn't suit you. It was bad enough for me, but we went with another couple who were lst time cruisers and I felt bad that they didn't get to experience the whole dining thing...

Oh, one more thing I noticed right away. Victory doesn't have any hand sanitizers ANYWHERE on the ship. Can't figure that out. Smilingtman, be sure to try the deli sandwiches. My favorite was the turkey. Yummmmyyyy. And the clam chowder and fried chicken on the last day at the Lunch of Nations on Lido(American) were very good.

We are considering a cruise on the Victory in april 07. It would be the Eastern Caribbean itinerary. The more I read about this ship, the more excited i get about it. We will have an 18 yr old boy and 15 yr old girl with us. Do you know much about the teen areas?

Thanks - Patricia

Patricia, I don't know too much about the teen areas, but there is a lot of activity on the ship. They have a teen disco...not much more info I can give you, but...we took our kids on their lst cruise when they were in their teens. We were so worried they would be "bored." They had each other, but....well, when we sailed out (we had been on 2 cruises before) I was looking all over for them because I wanted to share this great experience with them and they were no where to be found! They hooked up with some kids and we hardly saw them all week! I am sure they will have a wonderful time. Victory is a beautiful ship.

We did sail last year for the first time on the Princess Dawn. Beautiful ship and an incredible vacation. There were only a handful of teens on that sailing (April 19 - 29, 2005). Our kids didn't mind it - but it would had been nice if they could of gone dancing, had more kids on board, etc. I wonder if there will be more kids next April? Also, this ship seems to be quite a bit bigger. Did it ever seem crowded or hard to navigate?

Thanks - Patricia

Patricia, there were a lot of people, but it was never "crowded" if you know what I mean. Sure some of the lines at breakfast and lunch were long, but my motto is it is better to be standing on line than standing in front of the stove! And if you waited, the lines dwindled down. I was a little suprised when I saw how "small" the pool and deck area was compared to other ships we have been on, but we never had a problem getting a chair. I would imagine if you go during spring recess there will be a lot of kids, but who knows. If your kids get along and enjoy being with each other, don't worry about it. I had NO PROBLEM at all navigating the ship. It is very easy to get around. Only thing I "didn't like" was that they had the signs for cabins in an out of the way place; kind of away from the elevator and stairs. You know, the signs that say odd cabins this way, even that way. For some reason I just couldn't get my bearing when I would get off the elevator and almost ALWAYS went the wrong way lol. No biggie, I would just make a turn around. The Victory and her sister ships are beautiful and I would sail on any of them again in a minute. I love Carnival. Good luck in your planning!

Karry, we will be going on our first cruise this March 5th on the Victory (Eastern Itinerary). We are taking my parents and 4 of their friends, plus my 16 yr old daughter and one of her friends. WE are very excited and would appreciate any tips you could give us, due to the fact that this will be the first time for all of us. Thanks, in advance.

Wolftaz, if you need any specific advice, please let me know or any of the other experts on this forum! The only advice I would give you about Victory is that you go to the dining room when you get on the ship and look for your table. If you don't like it, ask to be moved. We have always had wonderful tables on all our trips. Front and center. This time we were stuck on the 2nd floor in the farthest back and it was a booth. We were with another couple. It was horrible! As I said, Victory is a beautiful ship and you will have a wonderful time on her!

I really don't....we have been to those islands so many times and now we just get off the ship for the heck of it and walk around, then go back!! It is fun to walk around Old San Juan and they have a Walgreens that is awesome! So if you need anything, wait until you get there. They have a lot of nice gifts in there also. We stopped at Carlos and Charlies for a drink. Just stood at the bar because if you want to sit at a table you have to buy a meal. Why bother when you have 4* food on the ship! The one thing we did was the 4x4 jeep tour in St. Maarten and it was the biggest waste of time and $. We would NEVER do that again. I am sure someone can give you suggestions. St. Thomas is very good for shopping: booze, jewelry, that kind of stuff. Have a great trip!

:coupleWe celebrated our 1st anniversary on Victory-Wow this ship was huge! This was our 2nd cruise , 1st was on the Facination. We ended up getting upgraded on the Victory to a balcony room. That is truly the way to go. We sailed the day hurricane Wilma was coming toward Florida, we were the last ship to sail out that day then the port was closing. It was fun because we had 2 other ships follow us to all the same ports. We were supposed to go Western but got diverted to eastern due to the Hurricane. It was so beatiful and we had nice weather the whole time.

Excursions, I suggest in St. Thomas get off the ship and catch a cab $8.00 a person- to Megan's Bay, It was a excursion in itself to go there. You won't regret it. It is $3.00 a person to get on the beach and there is a bar and a server walking up and down the beach-They have kayaks, canoes, paddle boats. It's Beautiful!!!!-- Puerto Rico, alot of walking, be prepared.--St.martin we did an excursion that took us by bus and then by :)-Drum boat to the french side. It was only $35.00 a person. Well worth it. Good shopping on French side.---

We were cruising at the same time ... 10.23.05 ... what a great time we had ... in fact we enjoyed it so much that we are doing the same ship and itinerary again this year ... will be on the Victory 12.10.06 ...

We did the 4 x 4 jeep excursion ... what a blast ... except for the small incident ... then we almost did not make it back to the ship ... sheesh ... lol ...
