Thanks, Glo.

The Explorer originally belonged to Lindblad (name seen on the video), one of the most recognizable names in adventure-type cruising.

What a blessing that all were saved.

That must have been so scary. The ship sunk in 3,300 feet of water they say. Thankfully there was no loss of life.

I was reading about the ship that plucked them out of the water the Nordnorge. That ship is a ferry in the summer months and makes 33 ports of call in 6 days. Wow.

The Nordnorge is part of a fleet now called Hurtigruten, previously called Norwegian Coastal Waterways...and before that, Bergen Line. Very reputable company. Their ships ply to the Norwegian coast and fjords from Bergen to Kirkenes (further along the coast than North Cape). It's an alternate way of visiting the fjords by ship other than cruise ship. They also have a ship that plies the waters of Greenland at the appropriate time of year. "Nordnorge" translates to North Norway".

Thank you, Glo.

Ironically, Clients of our Agency sailed the now-sunken Explorer when she was cruising the Galapagos, and they're scheduled to cruise Antarctica on the Nordnorge in January. Talk about coincidence!
