Im going on the grand July 6th. a friend of mine that is in the cruise industry and does lots of business with princess got me vip'd. he said it normally means you get to go to all th captains parties, free internet access, and a possible upgrade.

Has anyone else had this privledge before? and what extras did you recieve

Sounds like your friend has Platinum status. If so you do get free internet use, a special lounge for disambarktion, platinum check in, upgraded insurance. Anyone has a chance to get upgrades and not sure Platinum status has any bearing. I'm leaving for the Med in a week or so and it's my first cruise since I am Platinum. I booked last week an inside room and have not received cabin yet so will be curious to see if there is a upgrade. But booking so late it may not matter.
