Who is out there going on this cruise? My husband, myself and two teenagers. 18 and 16. Hoping for teens on board so my kids can meet and mingle with kids their own age.

Hi there. Big group of familly and friends traveling. About 14 adults and 7 kids. The kids are ages 3-5-7-10-14 I think. We are really looking forward to it. What deck will you be on? How are you traveling? Need hotel reservations? I am just really curious. Part of the group I am with are traveling by train. We are still searching for reservation at a hotel that is offering shuttle to the ship. So far I think we are all on deck 10. You know it's great to see a post here of people going during Thanksgiving.

We are staying at the Holiday Inn Port of Miami. Got a good rate and it is right across the street from the Bayside Marketplace with lots of restaurants and shops. It is the closest hotel to the pier. Only a $5 cab ride in the morning.

We have 2 cabins on the 8th floor.

We are so excited to go!!!!

I was wrong we are all on the 9th deck. Part of us on one end and the other on the opposite. I think I will contact the travel agent to see if we can get them all closer. How far in advance did you book your cruise. All of us did about a month before this past Thanksgiving. What a wait but looking at the prices of the rooms now I am so glad we did. We have a category D1 stateroom and I have found on most sites to be around $500 difference the last time I check. Do you have in mind any excursion you will be doing. I know we want the visit Dunn River Falls and Margaritaville.

We booked about a month ago. I'm amazed how booked this cruise is this early. We went a on a cruise last Thanksgiving and I booked way later than this and there were still plenty of cabins left. We got a pretty good price but prices have gone up just since a few weeks ago.
We went on the Radiance last Thanksgiving and liked it very much but have never been on the Voyager class ships before. Have you? We have not booked any excursions. I don't think we want to do Dunn's River - probably will just go to Margaritaville. I'm not really looking forward to Jamaica as I have read it is not the best place to go. I know Cozumel is nice and I think Grand Cayman will be nice too. I really enjoy being on the ship too. Sometimes it is nice not to go ashore and then the pools are really empty and quiet.

This will be our first cruise. The more I read about Jamacia the more I am not sure about it. I have mentioned to my husband about going to Margaritaville only. I wonder if all the shopping close to the pier have such harrassing from the locals to make purchases. Since we have a 5 year old son, I don't think we should take him to Dunn River Falls at all. Can you leave them in the group programs during the time they are at port. If so what is your take on this. I just couldn't imagine if something was to happen we would be seperated from him. Do you think it would be ok for him to go to Margaritaville. It says family oriented on the website. (www.margaritaville.com). We took him to the one in Orlando but it was during the day. I wonder if it will be crawling with drunks and that I want to keep him away from if possible.

I have never been to Margaritaville but from what I have researched, there is definiately a bar crowd but there is a pool with a water slide which he might enjoy. You could always try it and then leave if it gets out of hand in any way. I have two teens and believe me if it got too crazy we would leave too. But I'm sure it won't be too bad. It's a shame Jamaica has such a reputation....wish they would just go to another island. Or as I said before....just stay on the ship. I think people feel this need to get off at every port but let's face it, you pay a lot of m oney to be on the ship and it is nice to enjoy it crowd free.

I was telling my mom today about all the negative things I have read about Jamacia and she is just opting to stay on the ship unless she tags along with us to Margaritaville. Have you heard anything about the beach access there. I read it was free and then I saw where it was five bucks. They have water toys...which I assume are like jet ski rentals or water trampolines.

I think if you get something to drink or eat you can ask for a wrist band and then it will be free. I thought I read that on these posts somewhere.

Hi all!

My husband and 9 year old and 14 year old will be traveling with you. I believe I sent e-mails out about the Meet & Mingle that is sponsored by RCI and another board . . . you can sign up (if you want) at the following link:

https://secure.royalcaribbean.com/ccEntry.do

Also, on the other board there are quite a few people who have said they are going too. I have no "interest" in the other boards, in fact, I've been in these smaller ones because the people seem a bit nicer overall.

However, it's alway nice to meet new people and all get excited together for an upcoming vacation.

We booked our cruise the 8th of December -- one week after we came back from our last cruise. Love cruising during Thanksgiving.

Talk Soon

Hello Everyone.!!!!

Less than 2 months to go now..Hardly seems like it.
I am so glad to hear from the other posts that there will be plenty of children aboard.
Our family will be cruising with 4 girls...10,8, 8 and 3 1/2.
My youngest is already excited about Adventure Ocean...she calls it preschool.
We have never cruised at Thanksgiving before and don't quite know if it will be any different or if there are an unusal amount of kids on board.

In response to an earlier question about Jamica and kids etc....My husband and I climbed Dunn River Falls on our honeymoon...it was really fun and we did not have too much problem being bothered by the locals...however we returned once when my youngest was about 2 and were very fearful. There were armed military men everywhere and the local police were beating some beggar w/ a stick. I don't think we will be going ashore unless it is for some nearby shopping without the kids.
I am pretty sure that as long as there is an Adventure Ocean schedule that meets your needs and allows you to take a quick trip ashore, the kids can stay in the program. You would have to be back at what ever time the break was etc. I'm pretty sure they set it up that way purposefully so that you can do things like that.
My daughter and nieces love Adv. Ocean. I am sure your kids will too.

Hey, where has everyone been????
Not many posts recently. Are we all busy packing already!!??
My family and I are signed up for the Meet and Mingle, is everyone here signed up also.?

I know Grand Cayman was closed earlier this week due to hurricane damage. Has anyone else heard anything more???And if it is still closed is there a plan for an alternate stop or an extra sea day?

I'd love an extra sea day just to soak up all the super things going on aboard ship.
