Last time we sailed the Conquest we booked a wrap around cabin on the back and loved it! Huge balcony, you know. We would like to have something like that again.

Our oldest son and 10 yr old grand daughter are sailing with us.

So any info always helps. We've all sailed several times before.

I think we're going to sail either the week of March 8 or maybe the 22nd. My husband works for the airlines and I work at school, so we've been watching the fares - they are going down pretty regularly. Except for the week, I actually have SP Break (Mar. 15).
The interline fares jump from (for example) $499 for the cheapest inside on March 8 to $1249.00 the week of March 15 - Same cabin.

That is a bit ridiculous!

But we had the same problem last year - thank goodness we can pick a different week.

We have enjoyed all of our Voyager class cruises. They are our favorite ships, at least so far because we have not cruised on the Freedom Class yet.

The 10 year old will love Adventure Ocean. It is a huge area with lots of activities for the kids to participate in.

Don't miss the ice skating show. It is among the best cruise entertainment we have seen. You have to get tickets to the ice show but they are free. They usually start handing them out right after the first "shopping talk" which is usually held in the ice arena on the first morning of the cruise. Be sure to get your tickets early so you can get the night you want. We usually do the ice show before dinner on one of the formal nights. Also don't miss the Mardi Gras parade in the Royal Promenade.

Portifino is the specialty restaurant. We always do one specialty restaurant per cruise. There's always a lot of chatter on the boards about paying extra for the specialty restaurants. It is worth it to us.

A great place to go for sail away, or any time for that matter, is the foredeck (helecopter pad). To get there, walk all the way foreward on the outside on deck four which is also the lifeboat station deck. When you get foreward you'll se some stairs going up to deck five. Just walk up those steps and keep going foreward and you'll be out on the foredeck.

Voyager of the Seas is a great ship for a family cruise so =funsign

Having just returned from a 15 day Transatlantic Cruise on the Voyager I would suggest staying away from this ship till it has completed it's scheduled dry dock and refurbishment in May of 2009. It is in sad sad shape almost to the point of being a health and safety issue.

=yeah the ship's "condition" is in the eye of the beholder. In my experience with Royal Caribbean, six cruises, they keep their ships in great condition.

We have sailed Voyager class ships twice and Freedom Class once and the big ones are by far our favorite. Once you sail the Voyager class the Freedom class is quite easy to navigate because they are set up basically the same. This is nice. I can't imagine you would be dissapointed in any way and (just my opinion of course) I think you will find yourself quite spoiled and it's going to make it difficult for you to sail anything other, especially when it comes to sailing with several family members and friends of different ages. There is just something to do for everyone. As mentioned above, DO NOT miss the ice show. We sailed the Navigator twice, our first 2 cruises and didn't catch it. Everyone kept telling us we were crazy so when we sailed the Freedom we went and saw it and were absolutely in awe! We are currently booked on the Oasis, can't wait to see that ship and one of the things I am most looking forward too is the Ice show once again. Yes, even with everything else she has to offer. Have a great cruise and please let us know what you decide!

Oh...as far as the cabins go I am not a lot of help. We lucked out and got one of the balcony cabins on the "hump" first cruise and we loved it so much that we book early enough to get those cabins every time now. No the balconies are not the big ones you are looking for. I'll bet there will be some here that will direct you towards the aft cabins. I have never been in them but would like to check them out.

Wife and I did the RCL Voyager Of The Seas 15 Day Spanish TransAtlantic from Barcelona, Spain to Galveston Nov 28 - Dec 14, 2008.

The cruise experience of a life time. Food, service and the ship are just tops. In fact, we are cruising again Feb 1, 2009 on her from Galveston,TX -7 Day Western Caribbean.

The VOTS will stay in Galveston doing the Western Caribbean until April 2009. The ship then departs for a return 14 day TA cruise ending in South Hampton, England where she will be in dry dock for 5 weeks refurbishing. After which, she will do a all Mediterranean out of Barcelona, Spain and on Nov 29, 2009 do the 15 Day TA back to Galveston. Not that I keep up on the ships details that much :thumb

If you care to see our photos and comment on the 15 Day TA click here to go to my website. Enjoy the ship.

Interesting comment. My wife and I also were on the 15 Day T/A of the Voyager. I did see areas of needed repair but not anything that would make say it was in sad shape. Did you cruise the Voyager when it was commissioned in 1999? If so, you would have a good compassion.

Too me:
Men's Suna/Steam Room area - Yes showed a lot of wear
Some areas of the outside hull, railings chipped paint and peeling
Deck chairs in pool areas need replacing

Over all:
Carpets were decent for the years of wear they have had
Constant cleaning of handrails, walking areas being done by staff
Hallways clean
Stateroom clean -does need new mattress
Dinning rooms clean
Promenade well kept but showing signs of wear and tear

Agree, the May 2009 dry dock and refurb will put the ship in "ship shape" and would be a wonderful time to cruise on her again.
We sail the Voyager out of Galveston, TX Feb 1, 2009 on the 7 Day Western Caribbean. I'll look a little closer this cruise.

Your welcome Karen. When do you cruise and from what port to what ports? We have nothing but "good" to say about the ship and staff. That why we booked Feb 1, 2009 right away sailing from Galveston, TX for 7 days on the Voyager. Hey, two or three lobster dinner at one setting would cost me $60 buck at Red Lobster. . oh ya, I don't want to forget and ask for the shrimp cocktail. . 2 of them. =docdance

We took a 7 night cruise on Voyager in March 2008. My first! It was awesome. Very clean. The food was great all the time - breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks! You will NOT go hungry - you can eat 24/7! The staff was very friendly. Our dinner waiter and assistant were super! The cabin attendant was great! Always asked if we needed anything. We had an interior stateroom on Deck 10. The shows were spectacular! Colorful, upbeat!

Taking my second cruise on Serenade of the Seas in 24 days and will be celebrating my 50th birthday in Barbados!

Is there something specific you would like to know?
