Waiting List for Late Seating?

We decided to go Traditional Dining instead of Personal Choice on the Caribbean Princesss and found we are now on a waiting list! There must not be too many people opting for the PC. We had originally thought about PC because we "were" taking two teenagers and thought that would be the best for us. Now, being it is only going to be the two of us we wanted the Traditional because we had enjoyed that so much and now can't get it.

This is so Princess can show people are using PC, waitlist folks for Main and Late and force them to PC.

I head people had to wait in line for PC that is why we wanted to do the traditional dining. Sheez! Have you experienced PC dining Seagarsmoker?

I have never chose PC dining in all our Princess sailings offered..it seems to work OK ..BUT we always want 2nd seating Traditional, and as we book 18 months ahead we have never had to settle for anything else..I bring my ORIGINAL BOOKING Paperwork in case it were to get changed.. to show it's that far booked ahead and guaranteed ahead..Maitre D' would have a real tough time with My big DH if that was changed..He's real Quiet but carries a big stick...:grin...;)..Joanne

We booked at the end of March for June 12th. When we got our booking papers from our TA we were waitlisted for 2nd seating. I filled out the personalizer info on Princess.com and the next time I checked our booking online we were confirmed for second seating. I don't know if that had anything to do with it.

Sandy, the personalizer is where I first saw we were on the waiting list. I am sure everything will work out, I mean come on, we will be on a cruise! If this is the worst that happens, what a great trip it will have been!

Keisele, if you don't clear the waitlist and end up with PC, just go to one of the PC dining rooms and make a reservation for the same table/same time every night. That turns your "forced PC" into traditional dining. I'm with Seagarsmoker on this one!

I requested early traditional dining and see on my book that we are confirmed for PC dining. How do I get it changed?

As CruisinTex said, you can turn your PC dining into traditional by simply making a standing reservation for a certain time. Hubby and I did that on recent Caribbean Princess cruise and we ate @ 8 every night at the same table. It would be easy for the maitre'd to do this with a party of 4. There are two dining rooms available for PC dining and only one for traditional. I bet with so many other dining options, there are nights in the traditional dining room where there are many partially empty tables. If this is what you chose to do, just call the concierge when you board and make the reservations.

They ONLY allot 1 of the 3 diningrooms for Traditional dining with the other 2 allocated to PC Dining so they ALWAYS have waitlisted Paxs for Traditional dining unfortunatly. =shrug As has been mentioned above ........ if U do NOT get your Traditional Dining assignment then U can opt for a same time / same table reservation in PC dining. That type of arrangement worx out well if U are traveling with a group that ALL wants to dine together. or someone that is cruising by themselves and does NOT mind meeting NEW paxs EVERY night for dinner or sitting at a small table by themselves. For the individuals cruising by themselves that prefer a large table and prefer to NOT have to introduce themselves to a NEW set of diners EVERY evening they are sort of OUT of LUCK so to speak. Make sure U see the Maitre'D the VERY 1st thing as U get on the ship and express your desires and hopefully they can get U something setup in Trad. Dining. :thumb Good Luck!!!

The waitlist usually moves VERY fast, so depending on how far off your cruise is, you could very easily get confirmed for second seating. I've been 200 deep on the wait list and have seen it drop off in a week or two. If it doesn't say your position on the list in the Personalizer, just call Princess and they'll tell you.

Karen,

When you get on the ship go straight to the dining room. The maitre'd's are always there waiting to make changes. You'd be surprised there are people who have late that want early & vice versa. Sorry that your niece & nephew aren't coming with you any longer. My daughter never did see Holly online.

we booked a couple of weeks ago for a 7/17/04 sailing on the caribbean princess and went with traditional seating (late)... we were on a wait list about 2 weeks then confirmed. if you check every few days you will see that your waitlist # moves up (actually down) until confirmed. Don't let being on the waitlist scare you though...

We just got off the 04/17 on the Golden and had PC. We loved it and had no waits except for one night( formal) when we went at 7:15. We usaully went around 6:30 or 7 and the dining room was never jammed full. I would think that you would also have no problem if you went after 8 or 8:30. We always requested a big table and met tons of nice people, and it was fun to see them around the ship during the week, you get ot know so many more cruisers that way. If you have your heart set on a table for two it might be more difficult, although there seemed to be many of them.

We will never go back to traditional. We enjoyed never worrying about when we went to dinner, and as other posters have said you can request a reservation.

Those of you who have never tried PC should try it , it's not bad at all!!
