I would like to share the following with you. Our Meet and Mingle group on the Cruise Critic forum had worked together to plan the best excursions, that would suit us all. One couple took the lead in finding a great group tour in Egypt.
As of a few days ago another forum member asked what had happened to the post from this couple and another person that was helping his group with an excursion. To make a long story short these people were posing as cruise members and setting up excursions that they had no intention of attending.
There was a request for us to send them a deposit.
We contacted the excursion company and were told that these people were not agents of there's. There are many reputable excursion company's out there, just deal directly with them. Regards Greg

Agree. As President Regan said, "Trust, but verify." Either deal directly through the cruise line or with an agent you know. If it's the first time with an agent, check and double check before sending money. Document. And, if you are ripped off, contact the authorities and pursue action.
