Does anyone know if it is safe to drink the water onboard the ship, for instance late at night filling up a cup of water from the bathroom sink?? I know everyone always says bring bottled water, we were going to bring a 6 pack, however we do not check luggage so a 6 pack amongst everything else... we were just going to bring 2 bottles and fill as we go?? Safe not Safe,,, would love some input.

The tap water on ships is desalinated and perfectly good to drink. I actually like the taste of desalinated ship water. I find it just as good as bottled water in terms of taste.

I'm not that brave, but my mom drink it all week and said it was perfectly fine. I've heard that from other people too. :thumb

As far as safe goes... it's perfectly safe. It's made from the steam of boiled seawater, which is about as safe as water can be. Taste is always a matter of taste...I think it tastes fine and always drink it. The only problem is the temperature, it never really gets very cold (since it has been boiled, it takes a lot of energy to get it really cold), so I just keep some in the little refrigerator all the time.

I wouldn't bother dragging more that a bottle or two with you on the plane. But if you really want to, and you're going from Fort Lauderdale, you can just get off the ship and walk over to Walgreens and buy it there before you sail.

It's fine to drink, but I think it tastes better from the Horizon Court than the faucet. Maybe because it's colder.

My advice for great, free, cold, drinking water (works at many hotels too): Before you go to bed, make sure your ice bucket is full. When you awake, you will have nicely chilled, very fresh-tasting water. Even it cities where I don't care for the tap water, this seems to work. The ice used at many places is obviously made from purified water.

We always drink the water when we are on the Grand and it's perfectly safe. I have a funny stomach so I would know if the slightest thing is wrong with it. As for it being warm; we live in Florida and are used to warm water from the cold water tap...it's a way of life in South Florida.....LOL. We have gotten used to it. We melt the ice and use that for cold drinking water--the same as we do at home. One of the little problems of living in South Florida---but Oh, do I love our winters. Nice cool weather with no humidity and NO SNOW. Happy sails to you all!!
