We went in March...it was soooo relaxing being on for 10 nights! Made us never want a shorter cruise! Only problem with that is lack of vacation time. I figured that one out though, one 7-nite, one 10-nite per year at least while we can afford to do so!

Enjoy!

Hi Kathy & Dave - We're in the same 'boat' as you. One 7 nighter and one 10 nighter is the perfect mix for DH's vacation time off too. I just wish they did 10 night cruises in the summer in the Caribbean!

I'm really looking forward to being on the ship for 10 nights! It always takes me 3-4 days to totally and completely unwind on a cruise. I only have a couple days of real relaxation after that since the day before disembarkation is kinda a 'bummer' day. With 10 days, hopefully we'll all be more relaxed and ready to face realitty when we return.

How did you like the Coral? What were your highs & lows? :? :?

I love those 10 night cruises. You really get to unwind and enjoy all the ship has to offer. You'll love the Panama Canal too!!! Good choice!

It was pretty good. I have a review out there on this site (here is the nitty gritty from it).

What we liked:
The design of the buffet is better for traffic flow than on the Grand class of ships.
We never had trouble finding lounge chairs. There were many shady spots to relax, especially in the enclosed pool area.
The layout of the Promenade deck. It had wider areas with loungers so you could sit and relax or walk around. The location of the loungers did not interfere with the flow of traffic.
The pools were never overcrowded and there always seemed to be a spa available.
There was not much "saving" of loungers, but I did see the deck attendants removing some towels.
The food was pretty good throughout the ship.
Excellent pizza!
Our cabin steward, Liliana. She was great!

What we were disappointed in:
The main pools were too deep, 6'7" and 7'3" (probably why they were never overcrowded).
We missed the aft pool! There is a pool there, but it's small and for the kids. I did see one adult use it briefly to cool off.
The splash pool is a waste of space. How refreshing can the water be if it's only a few inches deep on the sun deck? The water must get warm pretty quickly.
The pool band was ok, but would have liked the music to be a bit livelier. I think some of the entertainment was toned down a bit to please the older crowd.

We prefer the Grand class ships. Our favorite spots on those are the disco and aft pool. Not that I wouldn't go on the Coral again, it's just not my favorite. I am looking forward to the new itineraries/ships coming to the Caribbean. I prefer the warm weather. I am anxiously awaiting the arrival of the Caribbean Princess and might try the Star Princess when it repositions to the area.

When you are on the Coral, check out the decks at the back. They are not known to many and have several lounge chairs and tables. These were on the Emerald, Dolphin, Caribe, Baja decks. Had we known about them, we would have gotten an inside room and saved lots of $$.

Thanks, Kathy! I did read your review the other day, but I've read so many in the past 3 days, that my head is swimming. (nothing new there! :dizzy)

Thanks for giving both the good & the bad. No cruise is ever perfect, so it's good to have a balanced review. We've been on the Grand twice and appreciate it for what it is. Our favorite ship is still the Radiance, but I'm looking forward to going on Princess again after 2.5 yrs. of being away. The Coral's atrium looks so pretty!!

:? :? :? :? :? :? :? :? :?

Has anyone seen the video game arcade? Is it like the Voyage of Discovery on the Grand? Thanks!

Hi Sanny! You'll be on months before us! We're not leaving until 3/31/04. If you get the chance, will you check out the video arcade? Not the computers in the kids' center, but the video arcade? Our two sons will be excited to hear what it has to offer. Thanks!! :)BTW - You should be getting your pre-cruise package soon! :dance
