We JUST had an earthquake

5.6, as of now. It came in two stages, it seems (like the Loma Prieta quake). The first shaking was light, and I while I was sure there had been a quake, I started watching the things around me. Suddenly there was more shaking, and the hanging wine glasses started tinkling, the chandelier in the dining room started swinging (just a little bit, but enough to tell it was moving) and Kiefer must have heard it, because just a second before the 2nd one hit, he started barking his head off (nothing new there!).

Wow... another quake... sigh... at least it wasn't the BIG one! (we have a fault line across the street, I mean RIGHT ACROSS THE STREET and one at the corner.)

Wow, I was just driving home from playing cards and heard about the quake. I was thinking about you Glo, and wondering if you were near the center. Hope it all settles down now.

California is having it's share of news these days. You've all had enough now, so hoping it will calm down.

I was wondering what dogs do when they feel an earthquake. It must be frightening for them too. Give little Kiefer a hug from me.

Many years ago I was in Guam during a minor earthquake, what a strange experience!

Yep Glo, we felt it big time cuz the epicenter was pretty close. This one was a roller. I was standing at the cash register at the drug store and the customers were all buying tons of candy for tomorrow night. When we all realized what was happening (about 8PM)I actually had to hang on to the counter to steady myself. It felt like the time our ship was going through really rough seas. It was hard to tell when it actually stopped cuz we were all kinda dizzy by then. I'm still a little woozy and it's 11:30 PM and my legs are still shakey. One customer came in about 9PM and told us he had been playing basketball and the ground shook so hard that he actually fell the minute his foot hit the ground. At least I don't see any damage, either at the store or my house. My supervisor said that her reaction was "I love my job at Longs, but Lord, I don't want to die here!" LOL

But we're all fine. Hugs, Mariposa

Thank goodness it wasn't a real big one with lots of damage. You all in California have been through enough already! Thanks for checking in.

I'm glad you are all OK. When the news reported this last night I immediately thought of the two of you. I said to Mike wow that is in Mariposa's neighborhood. Thank Goodness it wasn't stronger than it was.

Loma Prieta was in October too. Last night was eerie. We were in the hot tub about 45 minutes after the quake, and it was just strange outside... foggy, no wind, not cold at all, just this enveloping stillness... kinda creepy....
