How is Simon adapting to the unfamiliar environment? Did he figure out the litterbox yet?

He sure is going to be a sharp contrast in the photos of the three kitties together.

Now Simon can finally relax and be a playful kitten instead of always being on the alert for danger and worry about predators stalking. What a relief that will be for him.

Hi, everyone. I was going to post earlier, but I was afraid everyone was getting Simoned out, lol.

Last night I kept checking on him from time to time. I wanted him to sleep and rest, but still know I was here. Then, I went into the bedroom to say goodnight to him and had one minor altercation, he doesn't know what to do with the litter box. Normally you would take the kitten as soon as he finishes eating, and put him in the box. But, seems he is used to holding it, instead of going to the box after he eats.I was trying to get him used to the room, and put him up on the bed. He let loose. When I tried to grab him, it just scared him and he ran off. Thank goodness, I had the foresight to put a plastic table cloth on the bed just for that purpose! I mopped it with Kleenex, and threw them in the litter box for the scent, then sprayed disinfectant on the spot so he doesn't remember it!

I put him in there several times, but all he wants is to be held. Kneeding, purring and rubbing my face with his. Goodnight stretched to a half hour. Before, he just wanted to be petted, but now he has decided he has to be held. He will climb my leg to get there if he has to. Next order of bonding will be a toenail clip!

I had a bible study meeting early this morning, then had to make a trip to Walmart. When I got home it was afternoon almost. I put a frozen pizza in to cook, then went to visit him. He has been hiding under the bed, and when I go in, I have to coax him out. He is very nervous still, but as long as I sit in a chair or on the floor, he is constantly purring, kneeding and wanting to be held. I had bought him his very own toy at Walmart. A big red, feathery spider, on an elastic string. What a success. I wish I had had my camera in there with me, I laughed so hard at him.

The spare bedroom is also used for temporary storage. I tried to move some things out of his way, but a bag of ready for the recycler aluminum cans scared him so much he went under the bed and hid and would not come out. I have let him rest the rest of the afternoon, but was just ready to go for another visit.

Max spends the whole time I am in there with his nose under the door whining and crying. Every now and then this white paw sticks in the room and waves around. He not only wants to see Simon, his nose is out of joint because this is his house and he should not be kept out of any room! This is getting Simon used to him, and I think Maxie will just be curious to meet hiim, I don't think there will be any (big) cat fights. I had to block off the access to the door. The purpose of Simon's segration is to not spread the fleas, but Max is exposing himself. And he is allergic, his hair falls out if he has one.

Will try to get photos, and will update again later. Tlhanks so much for asking, Ladybug.

Oh, PS, there was a wet spot in the litter box this afternoon. I told you he was smart!!!

Thanks for the update, Connie. Sounds like you (and Simon!) are making great progress. I'm no cat expert, but I would imagine it would take a feral kitty, who's never been exposed to the luxury of indoor life, a bit of time to become accustomed to his new, safe surroundings.

You didn't mention Scooter. How's he handling this?

Scooter is a very strange cat, easily spooked. He was curious when I brought the cat carrier in, and stuck his nose in to sniff. Since then his attitude seems to be "If I just pretend he isn't there he will go away."

I think he will avoid Simon at first, but when he realizes he has another buddy to practice "cat armegeddon" (loud playing, running chasing, then eventually trying to kill each other) with, he will warm up. He and Max go through this several times a day, and altho Scooter is bigger, he is timid and Max always wins. Then when he realizes how warm and cuddly Simon is, I am sure he will be washing his ears in no time.

LOL sounds like he is warming up nicely. I wonder what he will do when you let him out. Do Siamese generally get along with domestic cats? I'm sure there will be an adjustment period but I think because Simon is young his playfulness will help in that adjustment.

Sounds like Max and Scoots can be a hilarious combo to watch.

Where Pucci stays when I travel, they have 4 dogs (one of them is Pucci's pal, Otis - a Pug), and 3 cats (one of them is off-the-wall, whose name is Wannie). Several years ago, when 2 were kittens (one of them has since died), I actually saw Pucci sitting on the sofa preening them...and as he would finish bathing one area, he'd gently nudge them over with his nose to start on another area. I couldn't believe it. I understand that he's now taken it upon himself to clean the ears of one of the other cats, and that cat absolutely loves it!

I've got a strange dog!!! :lol

thanks for the update.

I am amazed how friendly he has become in such a short time. You earned his trust pretty quickly.

It won't be long until he realizes what the litterbox is for.

My two younger cats were rescued as kittens from outside. They were petrified of the doorbell for some reason. Even if it was a doorbell on TV they would slink and scatter.

Molly would climb my legs as well. Even covered, my legs got so shredded. The claws are like needles at that age.:baby

Please keep us updated with his adjustments and progress, and perhaps a photo or two. ;)

That is so cute, Mary Ann. I can just picture Pucci doing that :)

It's good that he gets along so well with the other animals..

Just came back to the computer from a Simon session. He got his claws clipped, which was his least favorite thing in the world. He actually growled, but made no motion to bite or fight me. Such a sweet baby. I have lymphedema in my legs, and his little claws did nothing for that. About 10 puncture wounds. It should be better now.

The litter box has been well used! I am so proud of him. Now, I really can release him from prison tomorrow night. Can't wait.

I think the Aft Deck has a mascot!!!!

I think your gif needs blue eyes! I love reading SIMON SEZ updates! What a cutie he is. Your trio will get along fine after a few normal adjustments. I can't wait to see those first pics of him with his brothers!
