I've seen something to this effect in our broc. On all of our cruises we've never gone to this. Has anyone heard of it, gone to it? Can you give me some details?
Sherry, most of the action is at the pool midships. The band is playing the cruise director is acting like a cheerleader, usually free rum swizzle drinks are given out, the horn toots, and everybody waves at all the other ships in port. It used to be a big deal with streamers, confetiee, but it's been a little scaled back, but still fun especially for the newbees.
Is everyone invited to the sail away party? we have never been invited to one and this will be cruise# 28 for us.I am all for free drink's, especially to get the week started off right.Just curious. Viet

There are no free drinks at sailaway, and it's not really a party. A band plays, waiters walk around with drinks (charged to your S&S account). It's a nice festive time, but that's it.
Darn, I was looking forward to the free Rum swizzle drinks that Herb was talking about. Maybe that was on some cruise line that I haven't been on yet! if anyone find's out which line it is let me know. Herb? Viet
A lot of first time cruisers will see the waiters walking around with the facy cups filled with awesome looking drinks...thinking--Ill take one--then the waiter asks or your card--lol
I noticed on the last cruise the waiters have a sign that will state how much now.
On Sail Away night from home port, Carnival used to have free rum swizzles in the casino. It ususally started around 7:30 until 9:00. We used to double fist those baby's even have a picture with the 8 of us and our free drinks in both hands. The last cruise that I was on that had these was on the Imagination in 1999.
Hi Of all the cruises #9 #10 is coming up. I did attend party mid ship at the pool. My kids were up there so I took a walk. Well dancing, partying but we did have to buy our drinks but what a blast. Music everyone reallt getting into the spirit. But then the fire boat drill has to happen and that really killed the buzz for alot of people.
I have never checked it out eithr. But I will do so this time. We usually go up to one of the higher decks and watch the ship leave port from there. Viet
P.s. I am still going to look for those free drinks! LOL

It won't do any harm to look, right! I'm still looking for that blonde of my dreams, that has been a lot of fun and not done any harm either.Maybe she will turn up with the free drink's! we'll see. Viet
