...and we're having a fabulous time.

Whatever this problems others reported may (or may not?) have existed, are IMO long gone.

We LOVE ---almost---everything here. The ship is beautiful; definitely a change from the other "dam" ships but in many ways even better than what we have known and loved in the past.

Exec Chef Mike Mahn is doing an incredible job with both Lido and the dining room and this is the BEST food we have ever enjoyed on any cruise. The man is a wonder.

We have not experienced any of the problems others have mentioned and we are into our second cruise already so have been aboard long enough to have encountered them ...if they existed.

Our Suite is very comfortable; the pools are great; shows the best we have ever viewed; bar staff is as always there when needed but never too pushy,

Some of the art aboard is amazing and very much to our taste. The colors are vibrant and alive and fun but the class and elegance of HAL is very alive and well aboard the Zuiderdam.

The crew has clearly worked very, very hard getting this ship up to speed and they are spoiling us rotten! Definitely do not take that as a complaint!

We had two dinners in Odyssey and have another reservation and LOVE it there.

Time of my internet package is clicking away....

Any questions, I try to get responses while aboard.

Thanks so much for your post. If you can is it possible for you to get menus posted from your cruise when you get back?

How do you like the Neptune lounge on this ship?

How do you like the set up at the Lido restaurant and what is your favorite there?

How is your suite compare to the others you have been in on other HAL ships?

Thanks again

Hi S7S:
I am glad to know that you went for over a week before you got time to get on the board, because that means you are just having too much fun to write.
Let us know how it all went when you get back, and I know that you will have lots of stories for us.

So glad you like it - I thought you would... have you seen the little miniatures embedded in the walls near the elevators by the show lounge?
Two questions:
1. Who is playing in the Piano Bar - it WAS Matt Newbold - curious if he's still there or left for good.
2. Have you run in to Mark Dirk Zeller, the Bar Manager? If so, please tell him "Hi" from Phil in Greenland!!

Thanks,
Phil

We'll be sailing on the Z on June 21. Thanks for the feedback. We'll also be in a Cat S suite soare curious how it compares to other dam ships, like the Amsterdam.

Phil....we have been enjoying Ocean Bar and Northern Lights and have not visited Piano Bar....yet......, but I shall make it my business to learn who is playing there.

Our suite is slightly smaller than the other "dam" ship "S" suites but extremely well designed with plenty of storage. The bathroom is a definite improvement and the balcony while slightly smaller, is wonderful. We prefer the furniture here to the other ships. There are fewer drawers which annoys me a bit as there is no reason for it. Where, previously, six drawers existed, there is not an open space and it makes no sense IMO that they eliminated them. However, we have more space for storage than we need and loads of closet space...with shelves which work fine for storage of shorts, swim suits and jerseys etc. I must admit I did ask which genious decided to eliminate the drawers???? Duh??? Still waiting for that answer :)

DO NOT forget to look for two very large drawers at the foot of the bed. They can hold loads of things!!!

We arrived at this ship and fully expected to love the people but not particularly the ship. WRONG,. This is a great ship and getting better by the day.

We shall be sorry to leave after two weeks and seriously considered staying another week....but, darn,. DH says he must return to his office.

We truly are so enjoying ourselves and have enjoyed visiting with dear friends aboard; the food is as good as we have ever enjoyed on any cruiseline...any ship. Chef Mahn is totally responsible for a measureable change in our waitlines....but it was worth and we were happy to tell him so.

More details when we get home.
