I just got back from the Triumph (Western Route) and have posted the latest Capers for the week and the Shore excursion list.

Hey Tonylab,

Thanks for the copy of your Capers. I'm cruising for the first time next week (jan 5, 03) aboard Carnival's Legend and have heard about Capers but haven't had the opportunity to check one out. Thanks it was helpful.

I'm sure you had a great time. I'm travelling with a friend of mine (both males) in our late 30's. Did you notice many singles on your ship? I'm sure if you went with your family that wasn't something you keyed in on but I'm just wondering on what to expect in terms of single women.

Thanks again!

Daniel:

FYI. Carnival lists shore tours at their Web site: www.carnival.com and click on "Destinations." Carnival also has a pocket-sized shore tours phamplet you can get for the entire Caribbean.

Regarding single women, I practice Tai Chi Ch'uan daily on board at either the aerobics studio when it's windy outside or on the sky deck (Victory & Destiny). I get hit on by women all the time asking, "what are you doing?"

I am happily married and I just take the inquiries in stride. On the Victory earlier this month it seemed mostly couples: about 70% couples, 30% singles. We sailed the Eastern Caribbean Dec. 1 - 8, 2002. The economy may have an impact here, as it may be that more older couples can afford cruise vacations compared to youger singles. Then again, the Destiny cruise we took twice in 2001 from San Juan had tons of singles on it. So it may vary by time and by boat.

The hot tubs in the spa are a good place to meet other adults. Few kids or teens use those hot tubs. During the last cruise a couple married women (mother and daughter) approached me in the hot tub. They'd left their husbands back in North Carolina. While I couldn't provide the "action" they sought, the conversation was a friendly. BTW, I'm 47.

If you can dance well (e.g., not just the latest dances but ballroom too), you'll never have a problem keeping company.

My guess is, you may not find "Ms. Right" on your cruise, but you can find "Ms. Right Now" and have a good time. Keep an open mind.

Hi George,

Thanks for the tips. I'm certainly not looking for cupid to find me Mrs. Right, however, Iam looking to have a great time overall and if anything happens all the better.

I'm a typical guy and have three left feet when it come to dancing. But the guy I'm travelling with (we have our own cabins) is a terrific dancer and loves to meet people.

When it come to married women leaving their husbands behind and looking for a little fun, generally speaking I have a problem with this type of behaviour. However, in saying that, I understand that there is a responsibility on my part to ensure that everyone aboard (including myself) has a great time. LOL In the name of fun I just may turn a blind eye to these minor details.

I'll provide a fun Single-guy-on-a-ship review upon my return.

Daniel...

I was traveling alone this time. Just go to my cruise pictures and click in the Triumph folder. You'll see a picture of my dinner accompaniment.

You guys will be alright.

Tonylab,

I can only be that lucky. Were you sitting at a table dedicated to single people aboard? Or was there a mix of both? Did you hang out with your new dinner friends or did you basically do your own thing? So many question so little time before I sail.......

Thanks,

Dan

There was just the four single ladies (who came on the cruise together), another man and myself at the table. The other guy disappeared after the second night to everyones delight. I had dinner with the ladies each night and ran into them occasionally. I didn't mingle with them because I didn't want to interfere with their plans because they were a group and I had already met another single woman who I spent the week with.

You did alright. I'm just hoping that there isn't a ton of kids on my ship. I love kids and all but from what I've been reading they tend to take over the hot tubs and pool area. Hoping there are a few single ladies at my dinner table and if not I'm still going to have a great time.

Take care,
