Hey guys- first time cruiser here. We are booked on the Inspiration leaving from Tampa. Does anyone know what port we leave from, and how we can get there from the airport? does Carnival provide a shuttle or do we have to take a cab?

any info will help.

Thanks- Cindy

It is the port of Tampa and you can take a taxi from the airport for about $15.00. The taxi is so much better than the transfers from the cruise line. You don't have to wait for the bus to fill up and you get to go as soon as you get your luggage. When we went on our first cruise we did not know any better and took the shuttle we learned fast that there was a better way.16 cruises later we always get our own transportation. We also book our own air fare as it saves us hundreds of dollars and we get to pick the times and fly non-stop from CT. to Florida. We also go a day before the cruise and unwind then we are among the first to board the ship as we are already there and rested not tired from the flight.

If you have the chance to, I would def. stay in Tampa an extra night. There is a great little section of Tampa called Ybor City. There's a TON of restaurants/bars/shops. Plenty to do. It's nice to just walk around also. Here's a link... (I don't know how to make it "clickable")

Cindy,

When are you sailing? A few of us from work are on the 11/16 sailing :)

A taxi is the best way to get to the Port and as someone mentioned try to come in a day early and see some of the great things in and around the Tampa Bay area.

As others have stated, do your best to arrive the day before in Tampa.
We stayed as close as you can to the cruise terminal, Tampa Marriot Waterside.
A bit pricey at $130.00 but you are only about 3 blocks to the ships!
For a couple bucks you can take the trolly to Ybor City and Channelside.
Arriving the day vefore makes the cruise much more enjoyable.

Forget transfers and get a taxi. Cost between $20-$25 with tip each way.
Much faster and easier than the shuttle buses/vans.
