Michael,

There are lots of theories about how free upgrades are determined by the cruise lines, and the real truth, in my opinion, is that nobody really knows. Having said that, your best chance for an upgrade probably requires two factors to come into play simultaneously:

1. The Sky Suites are totally sold out and there are requests from customers / TAs for more.

2. The higher category suites are not sold out, and closer to sailing Celebrity judges that they
will sail empty.

Whalla, they upgrade you and get an additional Sky Suite sale which they presumbably wouldn't have had. There are plenty of people who believe that being a member of the Captain's Club helps. Others
believe another factor is the frequency of your sailing with them. I think that there is more luck involved than science.

Good luck and enjoy your cruise.

Michael,

I just realized you are in a CC, not a SS. Sorry. Answer is the same, though. You'll need the CC's
to sell out and their to be empty suites of any category.

I didn't mean top confues you -- a senior moment!

Ted:thanks again for answering my questions.you seem to know alot about sailing i see.maybe im just dreaming alot of getting an upgrade then again one never will know just what could happen.yes im in the cc class and i do believe that this ship is going to sail pretty empty.after all im looking for a bargain which i found however im flying back to new york and staying in puerto rico for several days after the cruise.so this will cost me much more money.alot of people do not want this repositioning cruise especially in november and flying back.i heard from a recent fishing trip we went on here in long island that one of the fishermen was on that ship and told us that this is some deal we got and the ship is rated # 1.we really wish november was here and not really gone.however time will come and we will phyc ourselves out here for this trip.thanks again ted regards Michael

Michael,

Your fisherman friend had it right. Constellation is a first rate ship, and my wife and I will be on it two weeks after your cruise ends. We've sailed it previously and found the service, the food, and the ship itself to be excellent. I know you'll have a great time.

Ted:Thanks again for getting back to us.do you want a real good laugh to start your day off:Do you remeber i told you that on 6/12/04 we sailed to carnivals ship the miracle.I mentioned i booked it thru carnival direct with a sheryl stewart. They lied to me over and over again about a great upgrade.Never seen one or got one. However on the ship we complained and they told us that they were booked.6 other couples complained also and they got the upgrades not us.I spoke again to the head of the dispursers office a english chap guy who was really nasty. When we returned i called up carnival and they told me that they would give me a deal for the future on a 1 buy and get one free.i never ever documented this or even wrote a letter.I took their word on this. Now i want to book a cruise and they told me yes its okay to book a cruise however only in hurricane seasons they offered us.Its like giving ice away in the winter hahaha.anyway now in the mail i get tons of literature from them and also tons of e mails.I told them to stop sending them and they insist on them.I told sheryl on the great deal that we received now from celebrity and they told me that we are lieing to them.anyway i faxed them over a copy of my papers and now they beleive us.i said match this cruise for us and ill do business with you.they could not so shame on the carnival cruise lines. Can you beleive this what was happening to us with them.the ship was lousy and over done with kids i mean brats they were and the food not fit for a dog.the buffets were lousy and peppery and spicy.the main dining room was not much of a selection on entrees.small portions they were and again spicy.so now we are trying to forget that cruise and look forward to the constellation.thanks to you and your opinions to us.we live in long island new york and finally found out to my question about getting to the pier.i got a white or grey car for $130.00 plus tolls plus tip.thats a great deal as i priced other companys aas they wanted $225.00 and better one way that is.regards michael

Go back to the travel agent that you booked with originally (or Celbrity directly, if that is how you made the booking). They will cancel the 11/10 reservation and open up a brand new one for the 10/29 cruise. Do it now, before final payment is due and you will not incur any $$$ penalty. Of course, the price, etc of the new cruise will probably be different than your first one, and it is unlikely you would have the exact same stateroom. But, otherwise, it's not a big deal.
