:grin Looking for recommendations for shore excursions in Aruba for a family of 4 (2 teen boys) who love to snorkel and would like to see a little of the island too. Has anyone hired a taxi to do an island tour? Is there one snorkel company that is better than the others?

Thanks!! :thumb :wave

we loved aruba. the best way to see the island, we found, was to rent a car and pick up an
attractions pamphlet......you are on your own schedule that way and can stop or not at your own
choosing. the natural bridge on the "other" side (opposite side from hotel row) is amazing.
there are several specialty beaches, and para sailing is a must....you see so much from "up" there.
we stayed for a week ...and had zero complaints...except the beach where all the cruise ships
dock is the WORST beach on the island....so grab a cab (or that rental) and head down toward
hotel row......for the great beaches.
have fun.

The natural land bridge made of coral recently collasped. Very sad! I was looking forward to seeing it. :(

The car rental idea is a good one, thanks! :thumb

Has anyone ever taken a sunset cruise. RCi doesn't offer that excursion anymore. I understand there are several operators. Any suggestions?

we took a sunset cruise ...on a huge catamaran. it was great. cocktails and snacks were served
throught the sail up and back along the coast line. we boarded directly behind the marriot hotel.
it lasted approximately 3-4 hours. mostly couples. some singles. no children.( at least on that sail)
the sunset is breathtaking!

we've been twice. first time rented a 4x4 right as you leave the terminal and head right... toured the island with new cruising friends... saw the natural bridge... while it was still there... the mines... the natural forest... got lost, found our way.... hit the light house, then a few beaches on the way back.... palm, eagle, divi.

second time... no 4x4, rented a minivan-bad choice... flat with in 15 minutes of "off road for us", regular road for the locals... the spare was flat.... CHECK the SPARE!!!!! this took 2 hours plus to fix, but we still toured, skipped the hills and off road and hit a beach, ate at the italian restaurant on the hill with the lighthouse, great sights, excellent service, high prices like at home, still worth it. daughter and grandma shopped, loved it... carlos and charlies here was lame, IMHO
