What did you do in Bruges/Zeebrugge?

Just wondering if anyone has any suggestions....we're having a hard time choosing what to do. Our two sons, (ages 13 & 15 by then), will be with us and it'll be our first trip to Belgium. Any insight or recommendations is really appreciated. Some sample ideas:

1.) "Historical Bruges" tour that is a city tour along with a canal tour

2.) A tour to Ghent and a chocolate factory

3.) Taking a taxi on our own to Bruges and walking around.

Thanks for the help! :thumb :thumb :wave

Bruges is a wonderful city to wander around. Very picturesque, lots of small shops, cafes, windmills (at one end of town, look careful for them!) - check out the lace products, truely a fantastic art form (so are the prices!) Fairly small area, so good for wandering, but do need a taxi form ship (you can make arrangements for them to pick you up at a specified time)

Last year we docked in Atnwerp and caught the train to Bruges with another couple. We spent a delightful day walking around and looking at the sights. We did a canal tour which went for about 45 minutes, we had a delightful lunch with the best hot chocolate we have ever drunk and just enjoyed our time in this delightful city.

It was well worth the train ride, about an hour from Antwerp and I would love to return and actually spend a couple of nights there.

Thanks, Jennie! I'm really looking forward to this first stop on our cruise next summer! It'll be nice to have a relaxing, laid-back day in Bruges. Thanks! :thumb
