What exactly is a "Stateroom Upper/Lower (1A)"? (Inspiration ship)

They don't have a picture or squarefootage and I was just wondering what type of room this is? Is it the same room as an inside (4A) type stateroom just on a lower deck or is this a totally differnet type room.

It is 50 dollars less, but I don't want a room that is smaller or worse that a normal inside stateroom, this is the reason I ask.

thanks for any help,
-Mark

If i'm not mistaken, a 1A has 1 singe bed and 1 bunk bed - only good for a single person or a single with a child - not a couple (unless of course you LIKE sleeping in bunk beds!). Hope this helps!

Additionally most Carnival staterooms are 185sf, give or take with exception of they type you are talking about, also request that the beds are able to be made into a queen/king as there are a few cabins even in the larger size that cannot convert, so you would still be stuck with two twins.

While we're on the subject, 1A's are good for singles. They give you a break on the single supplement, usually a lot less expensive than a 4A for a single. On the newer ships, some of the 1A's have one bed and a sofa which is also a sofa bed. Some of these are ocean view with porthole windows.

They are cheaper but, definately not a standard Cat 4A. They are also very odd shapes and sizes. So I agree it would be great for single person. Just don't book it for price alone because the Cat 4A is sometimes the same price.

I usually book a 1A guarantee because I travel alone and have found the cabins to be located in quiet areas of the ship and usually $250-300 dollars cheaper than a 4A.

There is more floor space because there are not 2 beds on the floor, it is good if you are going solo or with a child, I have done the 1a as a solo and it worked out fine, I did not spend much time in there anyway, for my cruise with my granddaughter in June I booked a 1a she will sleep in the bunk

Some people say that if you book a 1A gaurantee you may get a better catagory cabin. I have decided to do that on my next cruise and test it to see if I will be upgraded. Luci

I booked a Cat 1A guarantee for my Conquest cruise in July. I'm totally fine with the 1A since I am by myself, but it will be interesting to see if any upgrades happen. The cruise is the most expensive of the summer but still has rooms avail. We shall see.
Doesn't matter honestly, I'm just pleased with the $500 savings over a Cat 4A.
And any cabin on a cruise is a good one, in my opinion. As long as I'm cruising! :)D

Luci, I can't wait to hear how this turns out for you. We've been thinking of doing that but haven't yet, I'm afraid my wife would kill me if we had to stay with the 1A... :)
