What if your ship chages port or doesn't stop

Have seen posts about ships not stopping in Costa Maya as the port is small. Liberty recently subed Jamica for Costa Maya yuck! Sailing the Liberty in late March and have booked an excursion on line. Will check with company, but will they refund? Also my daughter just came back and here boat missed one of only two ports on a five day cruise and they only got a $25.00 on ship credit. This is sad. Any thoughts.

If you read your documents it will state the captain can change port..or cancel ports because of inclement weather. Youshould never book a cruise based on ports alone. Sometimes they cancel--sometimes they dont.
youwil have to contact the vendor about your money...if its a well known vendor and the port is cancelled you will get your monies back

Most shore tour operators will offer a full refund policy if your ship fails to call on their port. I'd recommend getting it in writing however. Having said that, every cruise line states in their documentation that changes in itinerary are at the cruise lines discretion and any compenstion for such changes are strictly up to them. My experience (22 cruises) is that such changes are rare and should they occur, it is for a very good reason (wanta show up in Cozumel during a hurricane?).

I didn't find Costa Maya to be a "yuck"ky port. We had a great time going on an independent excursion to the Mayan ruins with David and Ivan http://www.chacchobenruins.com/. We had time afterwards to spend on the beach at the little village of Majahual, which is just down the shore from the cruise pier.

Here is a link to some of our pictures from that day: http://community.webshots.com/album/527685047YCNWgf

All the independent excursion operators we have delt with will refund deposits if the ship misses the port.

Michelle-- thanks for your photos. We booked with David and Ivan for our February trip. Can not wait.
I, too agree that Costa Maya is NOT a yucky port. I'd rather go here then tender into Cozumel. I'll wait til Coz is more built up then decide to go back.

You said you still had a bit after the tour-- do you remember how much time?

I don't remember for sure, but I would say a few hours. We walked down to where we ate, then ate, hung out for a while, then shopped our way back. We had plenty of time for all of this. It had to be more than 2 hours.

Oh, when coming back from the ruins we stopped and got some sliced pineapple from the locals. I was so excited about fresh pineapple and thought that the cinnamon they put on it would be kind of good. WELL, it wasn't cinnamon, it was some kind of HOT stuff!!!!!! So, if you get pineapples, get plain ones!
