Our cruise has had a drop in price: Category 6A $845, now it is $620. Should I ask for an upgrade. What is the difference between 6A and 6D? Should I ask for an ugrade?
Feb. 27 (4 night) on the Sensation.
Thanks,
Tom

Thomas, maybe I'm missing something about your rates but you said your rates dropped from $845 to $620 for a cat. 6-a. 6-a is a minimum o/side cabin on Riveria deck. Did you use a travel agt. or where did you get these rates? Look in the brochure and check the rates. This seems high.

The difference between a cat. 6-a and an 6-d is that 6-d is on empress deck. The rooms are exactly the same size, etc.

Are you tying this in with a land based stay or is this just for the cruise only?

Agree with Frito, you paid too much for a cat. 6A to begin with; $620 is more in line with what one can expect to pay for a minimum inside cabin on the Inspiration. As Frito also indicated, upgrading to a 6D gets you the same cabin higher up on the ship, but it certainly isn't worth the $225 price differential, IMHO.

Hi Frito,

I got the cruise from Expedia. Don't know what you mean by land based, but the total price including airfare for two came out to $1545. Is this still high? Flying from Pittsburght to Tampa.

Aha! The price included airfare. With that knowledge I can safely say that you did get a good deal. Relative to the upgrade, it kinda depends on your point of view. Empress Deck is more convenient to a lot of things, but I would likely take the price reduction and spend the money on other things. In any event, have a great cruise; the Inspiration is a fun ship.

I think you are getting a good deal at $1545. We are probably going on the Inspiration Aug 31. and we are being quoted $1076 for 2, and that's without air, 4A cabin (inside), through a travel agent. If anyone knows of a better deal please let me know.

Shannon and Cathy, I hope you haven't booked that cruise. If you have cancel immediately. This cruise is currently being advertised at the vacationstogo.com website for $998 including port charges ($499 per person, cat. 4A). I suspect that cruisequick or other agents can do even better. Someone is trying to overcharge you big time.

Thomas, the airfare included makes all the difference. Your first post said nothing about airfare. That's why I was leery of the rates. You got a good deal.

There isn't any difference in the cabins, only the location.

Probably the best cruise ( or at least one of the best ) we ever had was on the Sensation back in '94--it was doing 7 day cruises from Miami --( cabin E-91 ). It was alternating between eastern / western routes. We did the eastern. Was a slow, lazy relaxing cruise. I saw the Sensation a few weeks ago docked somewhere. I guess in a way it will always be my favorite ship.

Go and enjoy.
