I have cruised Alaska multiple times. Yes I have been in rain while cruising Alaska. It was never a heavy down pour while I was cruising. I have seen many in the cheap clear plastic rain poncho. I have done a lot of camping so I myself have a rain jacket with a hood and rain pants that I take. The biggest problem I find with a poncho, cheap or otherwise, is that the rain runs off the bottom of them and gets your pants and legs all wet.I would suggest going to a place that sells camping equipment or fishing equipment. You will find several choices of rain gear in several different price ranges. Pick out what you feel comfortable in that matches a price you are willing to pay. You do not need a thick heavy rain gear.
