With the writers going out on strike last night, they say it will be a matter of weeks for talk shows and soaps to be on reruns. All other shows would be on rerun by January.....

This strike will cause over 100,000 people in Hollywood to be laid-off. I'm not worried about the actors but all the other working people will be affected also. Cleaning crews, catering, restaurant personnel, costume makers....the list goes on and on.

I'm not a big TV watcher but reruns in the cold weather months will be tough to handle.

Yep, I'll be hearing the tales of woe on Thanksgiving and Christmas.
SIL's hubby owns one of the many studios. It will affect them and all their employees, all the companies they purchase supplies from. This includes everything from office supplies to toilet paper for whoever is using their soundstages.
Fitness centers, restaurants, benefits and fundraisers and other charities will feel the pinch.

Probably more a matter of RIGHT NOW for talk shows to be on reruns, since they are shot every day. Some shows might go for weeks if they are weekly and have a few in the can. Reality shows don't use the same writers, so they can go for a while, if they are affected at all. The Simpson's won't be affected, as they have about 3 years of scripts at the ready.

I am going to miss new eps of HOUSE, DESP. HOUSEWIVES, GREY'S, and a few others. Oh well, I'll be catching up on shows I missed on the Animal Planet, Discovery, Food Network, so it's ok...
