Hi all, we're sailing on 1st May and have chosen Personal Choice. What do we wear? does the formal/Smart Casual/Casual code on normal cruises still apply or do we wear what we want? I would rather not take my tux just to keep it in the wardrobe all week!

Many thanks
Gary

You can wear a dark suit, but if you have a tux you will look so great. What is your wife wearing?

Hi Kathy, probably the a tux aswell, her names Paul !! ;o)

So even if we duck out of the regular 'fixed table' dining option, we still have to wear tux etc on formal nights? I'm confused!

You will definitely be in the minority in a tuxedo. I wore a dark suit and looked overdressed on formal night! I used to think that Princess was a "dressy" line, but PC dining has apparently changed all that! Last cruise was as casual and confused in the apparel department as any Carnival cruise I have been on. I saw--and I am not making this up--a knit golf shirt with a clip-on tie on formal night (dressed up with a pair of khaki trousers and white leather trainers!).

Hi LondonGary,

If you have a tux, why not? There are two formal nights on a seven-day cruise and folks do dress up. Gee, I even saw kids in formal wear on the Diamond Princess last month.

Even though we live in a "modern time", it's refreshing (and fun) to see folks dressed up. I live in New Mexico, where "dressed up" means a clean pair of jeans and shirt, and knocking the dirt off your cowboy boots.

Seriously, take the tux - you'll enjoy the escape from reality to a "slower time" where people dressed for dinner. Dress up, have a martini before dinner in the Wheelhouse, and have fun!

Just my two cents worth.....

Hi! To answer your question, yes! The dress code is the same no matter which dining room you eat in. When we sailed on the Grand Princess last September people did dress up for fomal night. There were dark suits and tuxes. You will not feel uncomfortable in either. Enjoy your cruise!
