im just wondering what kind of magic the "upgrade fairy " did for anyone on a tba 1a on the carnival spirit.

i got a great price on this cabin and will happy just to be on the ship. it might be fun to hear how others have done if they got an upgrade and how much of one they got. of course we all know this is a very big chance for it to happen, but sometimes it does i hope. please post.

Dusty,
I was upgraded from a 1A inside to a 5A outside. We have the french doors which open for fresh air. I have had one of these cabins before and was very pleased with it, only last time the obstruction was bad., all I saw was the lifeboat....This time I picked a cabin where I can see some of the ocean..It is only partly blocked by a lifeboat.
Who knows, by the time we sail, if there is any opened outside cabins with or without balconies, I might just be lucky and get another upgrade. My cost for this cruise is much less than the cabin 1A listing on many of the cruise sites on the internet, and I went directly with Carnival Personal Vacation Planner.

Dusty--

I have gone from 1a to 4c, 1a to 4d, 1a to 5a all on the Spirit. However, on my first cruise with Carnival on the Victory I didn't go past the 1a. But that 1a on Victory was one of the best inside cabins I've ever had--like a mini-suite with no window. Don't let those photos of a cheesy bunk bed setup that you see on some cruise sites (including Carnival's own site) scare you away. You won't find that kind of setup on Spirit or any other 'new' Carnival ship.

Enjoy your cruise to Alaska!!

it sounds like the cabins are good no matter what catagory you get. i will just be so happy to be on the ship it really doesnt matter. i just thought it would be fun to see how far others have gone 'up the ladder' as far as upgrades. i know i will have a great time.

So the 1a is not the sparse bunkbed it appears to be, at least on the newer ships . I did not know this and had steered away from booking one for years because of that. Good to know!

i will let you know when i get back. i dont care were i will be on the ship as long as i am on it. a good looking over of the cabins ( if i can ) will be one of the things to keep me busy. this wont be my last cruise i am sure and i will want to know the difference in the cabins too.
