OK, I was just watching a comercial on TV for a nasal spray called Veramyst.

Now, while the comercial is playing, the have a ticker running across the screen at the bottom, not for use in children under 12, ask your physician, and the killer, It is not entirely understood how Veramyst works. Wow, makes me want to use it.

How can they even market it without knowing what it does? That seems to me to be a recipe for disaster!!!

Connie, all those prescription commercials on TV scare me. If you listen to all the side effects they are worse than the illness. I love the one for bladder control. Side effect diarhea. I think I would rather have lost my bladder than have diarhea.

Or the one for over-active bladder that may cause excessive thirst - gee....wonder what that will make you do?

We've seen the Veramyst one, Connie, and DH and I both just looked at each other. Scary how in the world that ever got approved!

Oh don't I know. The drug commercial for arthritis and psoriasis scared the life out of me for years and I refused to even consider it until I got really sick this year. So when the doctor said this is your only hope to get that immune system calmed down, I had to go for it. But even the video they gave me about the drug emphasized the side effects and scared me to death. Lymphoma, increased chance of serious infections......the list goes on.

I think they have to tell you worst case. So far I've done OK on one of those OMG why would you take that drugs on the commercials. Praying it continues.

I love the one for RA that lists lymphoma - let's see joint pain or blood cancer???? I hear you Judy - scares the bejuses right out of you. And anyone beside me get creeped out by that flying florescent green butterfly in the Lunesta ads? I know I don't want that hovering over my bed when I am trying to sleep.

I think that the drug manufacturers should not be advertising medication on tv. Since all drugs have side effects and benefits that need to assessed by your doctor why have an ad promoting the drugs that may not be right for you?

Speaking of the Lunesta ad .... one of the side effects is drowsiness? Isn't that what you are taking it for? Duh! Thank heavens now I know it's not just me who is noticing that the side effects apprear to be worse than the disease!

You have all seen the ones for Rozerm (I have no clue how to spell it).

These are the ones with Abe Lincoln and the Beaver (they seem to run 24/7). Remember this is a sleep aid drug. One of the side effects is that it "may" cause drowsiness. If I am taking a sleeping pill it HAD BETTER CAUSE Drowsiness.

There is another drug out there (can't remember the name) that one of the side effects is an increased desire for gambling and sex. The Drug has nothing to do with Viagra.

one insomnia med, Prosom, I think, has a side effect of depression

it makes you feel hopeless...

So, it puts you to sleep, forever. Not good.

I agree with Meg, these commercials HAVE NO PLACE on television.

Almost as bad, I have a friend who was really having a horrible time. He had several devasting things happen to him and his family in a 3 month period. He worked up high in a manufacturing plant, and one day caught himself thinking about jumping. So he went to the emergency room and told them he was depressed and thinking about suicide. You know what they did for him? Gave him sleeping pills and sent him home. So, a suicidal person went home with a whole bottle of sleeping pills. He actually got a kick out of that, and it helped pull him out of the depression.

I had a doctor tell me they hate the ads. Everyone diagnoses themselves & wants the newest wonder drugs. The doctor prefers using the time tested, less expensive drugs.=COOL
