I'm booked on the 4/9/2005 sailing on The Grand Princess out of Galveston. One of the ports listed in the itinerary is Majahual. Does anyone know where this is?????? Thanks!
It's the newly constructed port section of the Yucatan peninsula. I think it's about 150 miles south of Cancun. They call it "Costa Maya". The shore excursion called the "Beach Break" is supposed to be absolutely beautiful. Check out other shore excursions at princess.com. Even if you're quite a ways out from your departure date, you can still access the descriptions of the tours and then book 60 days out.
Majahaul is a small fishing village about a $5.00 rt cab ride for the port of Costa Maya.
It is very rustic - you can see "real" Mexico. It is not uncommon to see horses being ridden down "Main Street", or a restuarant with a dirt floor. My husband had perhaps the best lunch of life there - I wasn't so brave! So if you are looking for something out of the ordinary in you stop, Majahaul might be something to try.

Oh, if you paid someone, I'm sure they would take you out fishing. Trust me, I fish alot, and you couldn't pay me to ge into the boats we saw. This is by no means a wealthy town. I'm sure even the fishermen themselves say a little prayer of thanks at the end of each day when they step on land.
