We are sailing on the Miracle on December 2, 2006, it will be our first cruise and we can't wait. We are coming down a day early from NY in case of a snow storm!! Does anyone know of good hotel in that area with airport transportation?

Hi melk
Look on Tbo.com or the hotel section on this board. I live in the area and love it here.

We will be staying at the Hampton Inn & Suites in Ybor city 11/24, 11/25/06. There is a shuttle to the cruise port. We will be charged $6 a day for parking at the hotel. I believe there is also a shuttle to and from the Airport. Hope this helps.

The Hampton Inn in Ybor is fine. However, do be aware that this area can get a little "crazy" at night on the weekends. Kinda like the French Quarter.

There are several hotels of various rates in the Westshore area. All of these hotels provide free shuttle from the airport to the hotel and most general shuttling within a 3 mile radius. There are various malls etc in the area.

A taxi ride from the Westshore hotels to the port will be $20. It is 8 miles away. The ride on a Sunday morning will be a breeze.

There are a couple of hotels right there at the pier, (Marriott Waterside and the Embassy Suites ~ Convention Center ~~if they ever get it open) but they are pricy.

A taxi ride from the pier back to the airport will run you $22.

Basically, if you stay near the airport... the ride to the hotel is free and you pay a taxi to take you to the port.

If you stay near the port, you pay a taxi to take you from the airport to the hotel and the ride from the hotel to the port is free.

Either way, you are going to incur that $20 -22 taxi ride.

Do not stay at any hotel in the Busch Gardens area. From what we have been told that area is not a safe area any longer.

You will love the Miracle. A great ship, with wonderful staff!

Happy Crusing!

I like staying in the Rocky Point area. That's on the causeway between Tampa and Clearwater, about 10 minutes from the airport but in the other direction from the ship. Rocky Point is great because it is right on Tampa Bay and has a great view of the water. A little more expensive to get to the ship, very little though and well worth it.

In August we got a one bedroom suite with a great view of the Bay at the Doubletree Guest Suites through Priceline for $65 (Normally $149) We loved it there. They do have a free airport shuttle but you'd have to get a shuttle or Taxi to get to the pier. Again, in my opinion, well worth it. Sailport Suites is another popular hotel at Rocky Point.
