Where's the best place to Exchange money-Mediterranean

I've heard the cruise ships charge quite a bit to exchange money. What's the best alternative?

Use the ATM machines that you will find allover Europe.
Check with you bank what amount you can withdraw maximum per week/per day and you will need a 4 digit PIN.
